Cade’s always taken risks…

Cade takes cares of his sick younger sister by doing what he does best--cage fighting and fu--er, starring in adult movies, his newest harebrained moneymaking scheme designed to pay for his sister’s growing medical bills. But when his latest gig finds him admitted to the ER sporting an erection from hell, thanks to the little pill given to him by the director, he can’t get the pretty little nurse who treated him out of his head, even though he knows she’s so far out of his league it should be illegal.

Alexa’s always played it safe…

Tired of being pigeonholed as the sweet, innocent one, hardworking nursing student Alexa has been looking for ways to break out of her Goody Two-shoes image. When her friend suggests the outlandish idea of losing her virginity to the sexy and sure-to-be-skilled porn star, Alexa is mortified. But then when Cade refuses her proposition, she finds herself pissed off and embarrassed. When she tracks him down to give him a piece of her mind, she isn’t prepared for what she finds. Watching him care for his little sister tugs at her heart, and suddenly it’s no longer just about losing her virginity, but about helping Cade. Because Lord help her, she might actually be falling for a porn star…

Good girl from a privileged family meets and falls for the bad boy. Classic story, right? Umm...yeah, except when the so-called "bad boy" has taken to fu-- er, starring in adult films. So when Alexa and Cade meet, while he's packing an extra special package and she's the nurse who helps treat him, it turns out that while they won't have the easiest of relationships, neither one is hard to love.

Alexa, as you may have picked up from the synopsis, is a good girl, a twenty-one year old who hasn't had her v-card punched yet. I'll be honest, I applaud young women who hold onto this, but sometimes they're not so fun to read about. I know, this makes me sound like an a$$, but it can be annoying. This is NOT the case with Alexa. Her virginity is not her identity, it is just one part of her multi-faceted personality. AND, Hard to Love is not the story of a man-whore trying to get into the innocent virgin's pants. Not at all. It IS the story of a girl who meets a guy, is immensely attracted to him, and he's doing what he has to do to get by.

So. Cade. He is one hot man. He had to grow up way too soon and has responsibilities very few young men could handle. He's trying to make a good life for himself and his little sister, whose health comes at a high price. When he meets Alexa, he doesn't want to fall for her. He doesn't have the time, the money for the kind of life he thinks she deserves. But how can a guy not fall in love with the girl who wants to help him, loves spending time with and cares for his little sister. Cade soon learns that no matter what his brain tells him, the heart is an entirely different animal. His heart wants Alexa.

Hard to Love was such a fun story to read. From the beginning, hilarious and epically awkward, I fell for the characters, their stories, and I honestly could not read this story fast enough! With her fun, steamy stories that make me laugh and swoon, Kendall Ryan has quickly become a favorite author of mine. Hard to Love was EASY to fall in love with.

Favorite Quotes:
(all quotes are from eARC and may have changed)

I felt like a real asshole, sitting here sporting wood and staring at the nurse's tits. Classy. I cleared my throat and looked down.
It was if my dick thought we were here to pick up a willing participant to ease his discomfort. Sadly, no little man. I felt his pain.

"You're going to be the death of me, cupcake." He brushed the dampness from my lip with his top finger.

"That's better." He smiled and dropped his hand. "I don't know what's going on in that pretty head of yours, but if you ever really do want this, I'll be the one to do it. Hell, I'd be honored. But you should do it when you're ready, and with someone special.

He leaned in closer to my face, just inches from me. "Sex for money has no emotion. It's like being at work --
....."Believe me. I'm sure as shit not proud of it. But you know I'd do anything for that little girl."

  7. I do know what you mean when reading about girls/women who are older and haven't had sex yet - good on them, but some authors make them into the worst characters. Glad that's not the case here :)

  8. I've been on the fence about this one. I'm glad you liked this one though and your review and the quotes make me think that this is a book I might like too. I still have to read Unravel Me...and so many other books. *sigh*
