BLOG TOUR: SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND (DREW + FABLE #2) ~ REVIEW AND GUEST POST

I am so excited to be one of today's stops on the Second Chance Boyfriend Blog Tour! I recently devoured One Week Girlfriend and absolutely adored it. My stop includes a review, guest post from author Monica Murphy, and giveaway.

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.

I'm just going to get this out of the way. I absolutely loved Second Chance Boyfriend. I loved everything about it: the heartbreaking yet romantic story, Murphy's passionate and gorgeous writing, and most of all, Drew and Fable.

After One Week Girlfriend, I was a devastated yet hopeful wreck. And I know that sounds like a contradiction, but it's accurate and it fits the characters. Drew and Fable experience many contradictions. They are a contradiction. Popular football player and the Townie from the wrong side of the tracks. Drew entered the series quiet and weakened by shame. Fable is strong and independent. One week changed them both for the better.

Drew began to see that he was innocent, manipulated by someone he should be able to trust. He begins to believe that he has the right to a full life, and wants that with Fable. Fable wants Drew, but needs independence as well. Her life has been spent putting the needs of her family before herself. Her selflessness is admirable, and it was a catalyst for Drew's transformation. He loves her for it, yet wants to take care of her the way she has taken care of him. Her innate independence contradicts Drew's need to return the care she's shown him. To help her carry the load she was given too young. Drew and Fable want the fairy tale. They deserve it. Drew and Fable are both realists. Their lives have taught them that life isn't always fair, and it's not always easy. But they're both willing to work for it, and they are determined to grab their own fairy tale.

I love Monica Murphy for writing this series. I love her for writing these two beautiful, broken people who both have such a capacity for love and acceptance. Their individual life stories were sad and tragic, but together they build something new, healing and beautiful. Murphy's writing was tender, yet fiercely brave. Her words made my heart break, melt, and fly. This series is so remarkably unique. To the many people who insist that all books of this genre are alike, I urge you to read Drew + Fable.

Favorite Quote:

I stare at my stupid little poem that the girl I love will never read. I draw little squiggly lines around it. A cursive F, just like I was taught in elementary school. Her name. Fable. A story. A myth. A fairy tale. She's my story. I want to live and breathe and die for her and she has no idea how much she consumes my thoughts. To the point I think of nothing else.  ~eARC, 9%

We should talk. I know we should. There's still so much to tell her. But I can hardly think when she's in front of me, touching me, kissing me. I want to drown in her.
  So I do. Just a little while.  ~eARC, 44%

"I want to make a promise to you."
She clears her throat, looking nervous. "What sort of promise?"
Reaching across the center console, I grab her hand and lace our fingers together.
"No matter what, from this day forward, I'm here for you. You need me and I'll come running."  ~eARC, 49%

Once upon a time, we were cynics facing the world alone. Our story changed into two warrior cynics facing the world together.
Now we own the happily ever after and we refuse to let that bitch go.

Ten Things You Don’t Know About Drew Callahan

Ah yes, the mysterious Andrew D. Callahan. He’s pretty closed-off, isn’t he? That drives Fable nuts. She’d love to find out more about him. I bet readers would love to find out more about him too. I mean, come on. He’s pretty dreamy. He makes me swoon and I’m the one who created him (ha, so silly).

So here are the top ten things you don’t know about Drew.

10. He’s a really good student. As in, almost straight A’s throughout college.

9. He’s addicted to junk food. Luckily enough, he burns all those calories out on the football field.

8. When he was younger, he had a ton of friends. He only became closed off after everything that happened with…you know (boo, hiss).

7. He wishes he could remember his real mom better—he was pretty young when she died.

6. He would’ve paid Fable zero dollars if that’s what it took to get her to go with him to his family’s house for Thanksgiving.

5. From the minute Fable accepted him so easily, Drew knew he never wanted to let her go. As in, he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

4. Drew wishes he had a better relationship with his father.

3. As a kid, Drew never really had any pets.

2. He’s still not sure what he wants to be when he “grows up”.

1. But he does know he wants to have at least two kids—hopefully one’s a girl with pale blonde hair and flashing green eyes just like her mom.

  2. Ah, that reaching hand and promise quote gave me chills, Andrea! Chills! It may have to do with me having a nasty cold, but I seriously doubt it. I skimmed your review since I have yet to read the first book which I so badly want to, I even have a copy, but I'll have to wait until my review books are finished and all of my exams at Uni done. I still love what you said about it being different than the same old same old and I can't wait to dive into the amazingnesss that this series is:) Glad you enjoyed it so much!!

  6. Well you already know how much I love these books and it makes me insanely happy that you do too! Drew and Fable were perfect in their own fucked up ways. I loved that Drew was fighting for Fable this time around. Adele…*cringes* her scenes gave me the heebie jeebiez! But Monica did a great job with her. I love when an author can make you hate a character so much. And the marshmallows!

  7. I hadn't heard of these books before but as always you have me wanting to read them. I like the name Fable, it's so unique. It sounds like this has a really great romance and characters that you were readily able to connect to. Thanks for sharing Andrea! My TBR hates you!

  9. I finished One Week Girlfriend last week, and that ending! I did not see that coming. I'm so used to NA romances being stand alone that it caught me off guard! I liked the story, although it was a bit too gritty on the personal side of their stories. Still, I'll definitely be reading this one!

  14. This sounds like a great series! I have to admit that these covers are starting to blend together for me though, they are becoming so similar and now I have to depend on remembering what they are about more than memorizing the covers. I like them okay, I just can't remember them. So I don't know if I had heard of these books yet or not. The romance sounds like something I'd enjoy reading about though!

  18. I follow book blogs so that I can keep up with great books. I'm always on the prowl, looking for books and authors I've never heard of. If It's a book that has awesome reviews, and I don't win a giveaway, I purchase them myself. Especially if It's a series, I buy the first book and proceed with the others. I always leave reviews on Amz, GR, and my Tumblr. Anyway, thanks for this amazing chance to win these books!
