Her dreams brought them together, but reality could tear them apart…
The man of Zoe Morgan’s dreams isn’t only real, he’s interested. In her. But her boss wants her too, and is leveraging his unsolicited advances with the threat of blocking the huge promotion she's after. When he places a spy on her research team, the intense stranger discovers more than he should, and Zoe fears hiding a relationship with Gavin Cassidy from her boss is the least of her worries. The whale she must protect has been marked for death, and Zoe's old enemy Scarlet is eager to deliver the killing blow. To both of them.
Australia’s Sentinels must find and lock the door into the Dreaming before Fyre Elementals launch another attack on innocent dreamers. But corruption and distrust abound, and Gavin believes someone on the Sentinel council is in league with the Fyres. As he reluctantly embraces his new role as council leader, Gavin must not only keep Zoe safe from Scarlet's vengeful clutches, but organize a Sentinel defense strong enough to prevent a full-blown Elemental war—with a traitor fighting by his side.

"Absorbing the rest of her shadow into his, he knuckled the wall on either side of her head, trapping her in the cage of his arms, but not touching. The cool, sweaty bricks ground into his skin. She shivered and flattened her hands as if clinging to the wall for protection. Fire flared low in his gut, spurring him on." (eARC, 19%)

When Psyche receives a prophecy gone horribly wrong, she learns that even the most beautiful girl in Greece can have a hideous future. Her fate? Fall in love with the one creature even the gods fear.
As she feels herself slipping closer into the arms of the prophecy, Psyche must choose between the terrifyingly tender touch she feels almost powerless to resist and the one constant she's come to expect out of life: you cannot escape what is destined.
Destined is a fresh and heartachingly romantic retelling of the Cupid & Psyche myth from debut novelist, Jessie Harrell. (From GoodReads)
I'm a sucker for a fabulous Greek myth story. I've never read one featuring Psyche, and this sounds terrific. Good thing it comes out tomorrow, right?

The other night, my husband and my mother-in-law got into a discussion about my bookshelves, and the fact that they are overflowing. I wanted to be mad. I mean, what woman wants their husband complaining about her, to his mom. I mean, I was sitting right there. But, they had a point. My bookcase is less than two years old and the poor shelves are already trying to buckle. I literally have books double shelved, with more piled up on the floor in front of the bookshelf. Then and there, I decided to Thin the Shelves.
So. What's up for grabs? I'm starting with a big batch of books.
The HOUSE OF NIGHT series, by PC and Kristin Cast.
This includes:
Marked (House of Night #1)
Betrayed (House of Night #2)
Chosen (House of Night #3)
Untamed (House of Night #4)
Hunted (House of Night #5)
Tempted (House of Night #6)
Burned (House of Night #7)
Awakened (House of Night #8)
These books are in good shape, they've only been read once. I was really hot for the first four or five books in the series. But now, I'm just not into it anymore. Lots of people love them. I hope the winner will, too.

Here's what I am offering up on the chopping block
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father's mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn't expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he's never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas's life.

Today I am really excited to have a guest post from Belle Whittington, author of Cicada.
Miss Belle (I call her "Miss" because I find it next to impossible to not address any Southern lady named Belle as "Miss"!) and I have been emailing back and forth for a little while now and she seems like the sweetest lady. When I read the text of her post, I found what she wrote to be so charming! I'm sure you will, too.
Here is Miss Belle...
I have been daydreaming stories for as long as I can remember. My first recollection of wanting to be a writer was when I was in the second grade, and my teacher, Mrs. Rambin, would have us lay our heads on our desks after lunch while she read us stories full of magic and imagination.
Most of my early writings were stories with a twist of science fiction…even my earliest poems.I remember sitting on the dam of a neighbor’s pond around the time I was eleven, writing a story about space travel. In fact, I still have that little handwritten story. It’s still bound in the same yellow notebook that I put it in way back in the sixth grade!
Growing up in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas, afforded me summers full of adventure with my friends.I call on those adventures and memories a great deal for my YA stories.Cicada has a lot of the energy of those childhood adventures spun throughout. One of them is something that actually happened to me when I was thirteen years old.I was on one of my adventures in the woods with my dog, Dusty. We made our way through the woods to a neighboring pasture and crawled through the barbed wire fence. When we got to the top of one of the rolling hills in the grassy field, I realized I was standing in the middle of a giant circle imprinted in the pasture grass. No one had ever told me about crop circles at that time in my life, so I just thought it was an odd occurrence that there was a strange circle in the tall grass. Now that circle is forever memorialized in a YA novel, Cicada!
Nowadays, I work at a day job in higher education and spin my tales during those off hours that I’m not working on assignments for my English classes at University of Houston, where I’m earning my degree in hopes of teaching English at the college level one day.
I’m currently writing the two sequels to Cicada.
You can find me online at these locations. I’d love for you to stop by!
Oh my gosh! I loved that post. She is the most charming lady.
Giveaway!
Miss Belle would like to give an e-copy of Cicada to one lucky reader.

This hop is hosted by Kathy at I Am a Reader, Not a Writer and Jen at I Read Banned Books.
Over 250 blogs are participating in banned or challenged book-related giveaways. We are all linked together so that you may hop from one blog to the next. The hop runs from Sunday, September 24 through Sunday, October 1, 2011.
When I signed up for this hop, I took a look at the American Library Association's page of banned and frequently challenged books. To be honest, I was pretty stunned at the list. The list includes suchclassics as The Color Purple by Alice Walker, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Also listed are new favorites such as Harry Potter by JK Rowling, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I am a firm believer that every parent should be able to choose what's right for their family and that there is an appropriate time and place for all things. But I also believe that denial and hiding from the ugly truths of the world only leads to more danger. I also believe that if we can't learn from our history as a people, we are doomed to repeat it.
So, in honor of Banned Book Week, I have a great giveaway for you! There will be 1 winner.

The winner will receive 2 challenged books. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (challenged in 2010) . To Kill a Mockingbird - In my opionion, the greatest book written. "Sarah waved her hand at the sky. 'Can't you use the stars to navigate?'

When Candra Ember wakes up in hospital after a dangerous encounter with a red-haired woman, she is shocked to discover that seeing a winged boy wasn’t her imagination. Candra is exposed to a world of rivalry and sacrifice she never knew existed, and the aftermath of a war to save humanity thousands of years ago. Soon she finds herself relentlessly stalked by Sebastian, a beautiful and arrogant Watcher Angel and romantically pursued by his darkly seductive rival, Draven. Ultimately, dubious about her own goodness, Candra’s very existence compromises a tentative peace in the city of Acheron. (From GoodReads)
My Review
My first thought after reading Ember? Wow, just Wow.
My next thought? Seductive. And when I say seductive, I don't necessarily mean sexual. Ember is a book that, at times, felt extremely sensual. Author Carol Oates wrote very sensual scenes, that were hot and heavy without a single kiss or removal of clothes. Those romantic, seductive passages were all about the subtle gestures. The soft touch of a wrist, the heat in a gaze. Writing sensual scenes without the overtly sexual tone takes true skills from an author. In my opinion, Oates writing was simply fabulous. I read Ember within a few hours, often feeling as if I were in a trance. I simply devoured it.
Ember is a book filled with enthralling characters, who make you love them one minute and curse them the next. Except for Candra, I never cursed her. Candra was an engaging heroine. She has a quiet determination. She is unwilling to accept anything less than the whole truth. She does not rely on someone else to save her, she takes her fate (and other's) in her own hands. Candra has a beautiful selflessness about her. She is resolved to give up everything to protect those she cares about.
As for the men of Ember, I have one word: Swoon. Sebastian is full of self-torture and self-loathing. He is unable to put his violent, disgraceful past behind him. But, and I hardly believe it myself, he's still lovable. The author managed to make him a sympathetic character even when it seems he's done horrendous things.
Draven (by the way, awesome name!) is handsome and alluring. He is self-assured and has swagger. And, the guy is a master manipulator, always playing all angles.
Sebastian and Draven are both sexy and dangerous. And I wasn't sure who was good or bad until the very end of the book. Just the way I like my guys!
In Ember, Carol Oates has written one gorgeous book. The book could definitely be a stand-alone, but for all our sake's, I hope there will be many more tales of Candra, Sebastian and Draven.

The world is changing. Once, Witch Song controlled everything from the winds to the shifting of the seasons--but not anymore. All the Witches are gone, taken captive by a traitor. All but Brusenna. As the echo of their songs fade, the traitor grows stronger. Now she is coming for Brusenna. Her guardian has sworn to protect her, but even he can't stop the Dark Witch. Somehow, Brusenna has to succeed where every other Witch has failed. Find the traitor. Fight her. Defeat her. Because if Brusenna doesn't, there won't be anything left to save. (From GoodReads)
My Review
I have looked forward to reading Witch Song since I saw the cover and synopsis a few months ago. The cover is absolutely haunting, and the synopsis sounded promising. And basically, the story lived up it. Unfortunately though, after reading Witch Song, I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other.
Witch Song is the story of Senna. She is a sweet, sheltered girl whose life is turned on it's axis when she learns she and her mother are witches. Senna must find the strength and determination inside her, in order to navigate a world she knows nothing about and save the witches and nature. Along the way, she meets Joshen, who assists her on her quest. I did like the characters of Senna and Joshen. The quiet strength they both display is quite touching. They are "Everyman" heroes, doing their job without flash or bravado.
I also liked the basic plot points of Witch Song. The journey that Senna goes on is strange and interesting. The author did a terrific job of setting up the world of the story. I felt completely immersed in Witch Song.
However, there were a few things that turned me off to the book. There were several instances in which the story jumps ahead large amounts of time, such as six months or more. And that's fine if you have some indication of this. But in this book, those passages of time are mentioned as almost an afterthought.
Another part that bothered me is Pogg. Pogg is, well, a frog man... I think. I think that Pogg was supposed to be an interesting character, but he only annoyed me. And, Senna can turn into sea creatures. I just could not get on board with these turns in the story.
I really wanted to like this book. And sometimes I did. But the parts I didn't like, overshadowed the rest for me.
I know there are plenty of people who liked Witch Song. I found two reviews on GoodReads.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck. (From GoodReads)
My Review
After I signed on to this book tour, I happened across a review of Half-Blood that said it veered a little too closely to the much beloved Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. At first, that scared me. I mean, the Vampire Academy series is one of my favorites. But, after a little more thought, I decided that really, any new book/series can be compared with another established book/series. It just happens. Did it remind me of VA? Yes, there are some similarities. But then, I decided to just push the comparisons out of my mind and read/review Half-Blood on it's own merits. I'm really glad that I moved beyond the comparisons, because Half-Blood is a really good book. I hate that I might have missed out on that.
Author Jennifer L Armentrout has built a beautifully complicated world full of danger, excitement, love and loss. Her writing is skillfully paced, with realistic, intriguing dialogue.
Main character, Alex, is a determined, bold and captivating character. Alex is so fun to read because she always has a great comeback, which usually gets her in trouble, and a impetuous, passionate personality. Is she a little over-confident? Definitely. And it's fun to see her brought down a peg or two.
So who is capable of bringing Alex's strong personality down a notch? Aiden St. Delphi, the oh-so-hunky Sentinel who offers to train her. Aiden is handsome, intense and impervious to Alex's smart mouth. Best of all, Aiden does not subscribe to the notion that half-bloods are second-class citizens. He treats Alex with respect and genuinely seems to care about her future. And boy do the sparks fly between these two!
As if Alex doesn't have enough to deal with, in walks Seth. While Aiden has the tall, dark and handsome covered, Seth is also tall, but has the blonde, Greek god look. He is sexy and a little scary, always an exciting combination. Seth seems to be the polar opposite to Aiden, personality-wise. Seth has the swagger, the imperious personality. Is it just a cover? I'm not sure yet. All I know is, the tension goes through the roof with Seth's arrival. Seth and Aiden are two Alphas, used to getting what they want. And what they want is, control over Alex's training, her future. And the sexual tension between Seth and Alex serves to further complicate her life. Oh, and did I mention that, as it turns out, Alex and Seth share a frighteningly powerful, but dangerous destiny?
What's a poor, half-blood girl to do? Aiden is everything Alex has ever wanted in a guy. But, being with him can get her killed or forced into a life of servitude. Seth seems like a terrific alternative, but if they choose their shared destiny, that can also get her killed.
Half-Blood really does have it all. In addition to all the romantic drama, there's also the fact that Alex could be turned into a daimon, her worst nightmare. And the fact that she is a teenage girl, just trying to make it through school. I can't wait to see how all this drama plays out in Pure, book two in the Covenant series, due out April 2012.
Favorite Quotes:
(Alex & Aiden)
"He brushed a lock of dark hair off his forehead and flashed that loop-sided smile. 'I remember you.'
I scrunched up my face. 'What?'
The grin increased to a full smile. And...oh, man. He had dimples. The air in my lungs died. 'I remember you, too.' "
(Alex & Seth)
"I really wished he would let go of my arm, because his fingers dug into my skin and something...something else was happening. I felt it move inside me, twisting and wrapping itself through my core, and with each coil I knew it was linking us together."

My Review
I've decided to post these reviews together because, to be honest, I don't have a lot to say about The Right Path and Zia's Path. They weren't bad. I just really don't have much of an opinion at all.
When I started reading The Right Path, I was confused. I felt as if I had started reading the books out of order. The story literally starts in the middle of action. I had no clue as to what was going on. There was no backstory to give me a sense of the characters. I didn't care about them at all. I knew something bad had happened at some point in the past. But What? and When? Even after reading The Right Path and Zia's Path, I still felt no real connection to the characters
Even though I've made clear that I don't think these stories were well executed, I have to say that I don't think the actual writing was bad. The scenes were well-paced, and the flow of the dialogue was good.
I am not trying to be glib, not at all. I don't like being negative when I write reviews. This review was very difficult to write. But, for the stories in general, I just didn't have anything to go on. Sorry.
