Brewing up trouble one pint at a time.

Enemies ...

After years away, Miranda Sweet returns to Salvation, Virginia to save her family's brewery, but her fate is in the hands of her lover-turned-enemy, Logan. What's a girl to do when the only person who can help her is the man who betrayed her?

Lovers ...

Logan Martin can't believe his luck when the woman who smashed his heart to smithereens walks into his bank asking for his help. What she doesn't know is that he needs the land her brewery is on--and he'll do whatever it takes to get it.

An Irresistible Combination ...

Their wager becomes a battle between their attraction and their determination to win. But it's in each other's arms that they realize there might be more at stake now than their bet. With the town against the Sweet Salvation Brewery's success, Logan has to choose between what's expected of him and what he really wants...

My Review

What do you get when you combine beer, a modern day Hatfields and McCoys, a second-chance romance, a going home story, and sexy fun times? You get Enemies on Tap, an intoxicating (couldn't resist the pun!) combination that makes for a happy Andrea.

So. I think I summed up Enemies on Tap quite nicely with that one paragraph. But just in case you need more, here goes. I really enjoyed both Miranda Sweet and Logan Martin, though I sided more with Miranda in most matters. I think that's due to all she endured as a member of the Sweet family. Sure, they're known for being on the wrong side of the law, but the fact that Miranda and her sisters, all hard-working and really good people, were treated so badly, especially by people who should know better, had me totally on her side. Logan Martin is one of the people who didn't do right by Miranda, but there's no time like the present to make things right, yeah?

Well, not so fast, because Logan doesn't begin this story as a completely good guy. He gets there, trust me, but in the beginning, I was so ready for Miranda to punch him in the baby-maker. Luckily, our Logan begins to see Miranda, himself, his town in a new light. He turns into a man worthy of Miranda, and that was fantastic.

There seems to be a lot of potential for the Sweet Salvation Brewery series. With Miranda being one in a set of triplets, I'm hoping her sisters will get stories of their own. I'm especially hopeful for quiet, organized sister Natalie and gruff brewmaster Sean.

For all the reasons I gave at the beginning of my review, Enemies on Tap was a really fun read. I enjoyed the characters, Logan's character growth, the second chance at love, an inside look at running a brewery. This is the first book of Flynn's that I've read, but I definitely look forward to more.

His voice broke with emotion, and he let go of her wrist, letting it fall limp to her side as if her closeness burned him. "It's hell to be pushed into following a certain plan because of someone else's expectations of you, especially when the one person you want so badly that your whole body hurts is the person you can't ever have. I fucked up before. I wasn't man enough to stand up for you then. I am now, and I'm hoping like hell that you'll let me prove it."

About Avery Flynn

AFlynnShoesAvery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

CEO Keira McBride has put more than a decade of blood, sweat, and tears into restoring her family’s magazine empire and knows she can handle any business challenge thrown her way…until sexy billionaire and corporate raider Nathan Cooper makes a play for her legacy.

Nathan’s not accustomed to losing and neither is Keira. When an all-consuming attraction threatens to devour them both, Nathan makes it clear he wants to move their relationship out of the boardroom and into the bedroom. Keira knows it’s going to be the negotiation of her life and the stakes have never been higher. This time, her heart is on the line…

Tempting Acquisitions was a quick, steamy story of business adversaries who realize they have more than business in common. I really like that premise, it makes for some great tension and conflict throughout the story. It does make me nervous, though, because I'm always afraid the woman will end up getting the shaft (heh) like in You've Got Mail, but the guy is so charming that she's okay with losing her business to him.

Thankfully, that is not what happens here. Keira and Nathan but heads immediately, and frequently, but she never backs down. I loved that Keira was willing to do whatever it takes to keep her family's business, no matter her feelings for Nathan. And, I was worried that Nathan would be the typical arrogant business man so often in these books, but he's not. He wants Keira in his bed, but he respects her and doesn't treat her with condescension.

Tempting Acquisitions focuses more on the relationship outside the bedroom, the intimate scenes were great. Really great. And not too much for those who prefer less explicit scenes.

Tempting Acquisitions was a fast and fun story, but also romantic. The ending was great and definitely left me satisfied. I would definitely recommend this for fans of Contemporary Romance.

He drew another moan, deeper this time, as his fingers grazed her nipples, their points hard underneath the lace. Impatient to feel her, to taste her, he dragged one of the cups down and took took the tight nipple into his mouth while he played with the other one through the material of her bra. Heat exploded through his body and his erection strained against her thigh. The taste of her was more luscious than any dessert, richer than finest wine, and he was immediately drunk on her.  ~eARC

Baby, It's Cold OutsideFour novellas from four of the biggest names in romantic fiction!

Kate Hardy's 'TIS THE SEASON TO KISS SANTA

Heidi Rice's 'TIS THE SEASON TO GO SHOPPING

When a Christmas Day blizzard strands an up-and-coming marketing manager and her boss's very off-limits, very hot playboy son in his department store, the two toe the line between naughty and nice as they unwrap their holiday presents—and each other!

Amy Andrews’s ‘TIS THE SEASON FOR KISSING

A down-on-her-romantic-luck kindergarten teacher plans to drown her New Year’s Eve sorrows in a gallon of spiked eggnog, but the arrival of her best friend's sexy brother threatens to melt the snow piling up outside the tiny Vermont cabin.

Aimee Carson’s ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE TEMPTED

After the worst year ever, a jilted music manager rings in the New Year alone, swearing off men forever. But things get complicated when her brother's best friend, the perfect man with the perfect body, tempts her to break her vow—if only for one hot night!

Kate Hardy's 'TIS THE SEASON TO KISS SANTA

This was a sweet story of two lonely people who find themselves together, snowed in, on Christmas Eve. Ellie and Mitch meet while volunteering at a hospital, giving the siblings of terminal patients gifts and moments to forget what their families are going through. Both are basically alone in the world, planning to spend the holidays alone. Though the initially do not like one another, close quarters force Ellie and Mitch to take a closer look and they discover that the only Christmas gifts they need may be right there in front of them.

He actually smiled then - and Ellie discovered that he was breathtaking when he did. He had a mouth that promised sin and made her libido sit up and start begging.

Heidi Rice's 'TIS THE SEASON TO GO SHOPPING

It's Christmas Eve, and Kate is stuck at her job at an upscale department store with the boss' son. Not a bad prospect when the store has everything you could possibly need and the son is a world-traveling hottie. It's always been a dream of mine to get locked in a cool department store overnight (yes, I've watched many 80s movies with that scenario!). But not only was it super fun, it was also super steamy. Let's just so that alpha male Ryder knows how to thaw Kate out. And though their lives may seem worlds apart, these two will find a way to make it work.

She laughed, a little breathless as she raced to keep up with him.
"I happen to know, he added, "it takes stamina to do Santa's naughty list justice."

Amy Andrews’s ‘TIS THE SEASON FOR KISSING

<happy sigh> This was my favorite story in the anthology! Tamara and Luke were funny, sexy, and sometimes funny while being sexy. Here's what you need to know about this story: Tamara has abstained from sex for a year. Luke has been deployed overseas for nine months. A snowed in cabin on New Year's Eve. You do the math. This was a slow burn build-up and I enjoyed every second. Loved it!

Favorite Quote:

His hand stilled as her intoxicating scent wafted toward him. Damn, but she smelled good. With the mint from the mouthwash mixing with the nutmeg and rum from earlier, she didn't smell like Christmas anymore. She definitely smelled like New Year's Eve. With a pinch of Halloween and a large dose of crazy. But after nine months and a strangely arousing non-striptease, his body had decided that Christmas was overrated.

Aimee Carson’s ‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE TEMPTED

Wes and Evie are opposites. Wes is the total package, perfect body, job, life. Things aren't going so well for Evie. Her career and love life are not where she'd hoped. Wes has always considered Evie off limits, she's his best friend's little sister. But when they're snowed in on New Year's, Wes and Evie can fight that feeling no longer. I loved that Evie was wild, a non-conformist who is loud and proud. I also liked Wes, that though he exudes perfection, when he's finally pushed to the limit, Evie causes him to unleash years of pent-up attraction. This was a sweet story of a long-awaited connection between two people who seem all wrong for one another, but turn out to be just right.

Favorite Quote:

Wes was just what she craved. A man she could trust, who was dependable. The kind of guy who watched over her when she was at her most vulnerable, but who burned with a passion so powerful it slayed all thoughts of treating her with kid gloves. He took her to places she'd never been before. Pushed her to the very edge of her limits. Protective when he had to be protective. Fierce when she needed him to be fierce.
