Follow my blog with Bloglovin

I am thrilled today to be involved in the cover reveals for the paperback version of M. Leighton's Bad Boys series! I adore Michelle and am so happy for her success. I also have an excerpt from the third book in the series, Everything For Us.

Down to YouSeries: Bad Boys #1
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Publication Date: 7/2/13

One girl. Twin brothers. An uncommon triangle.

When college student Olivia Townsend returned home to help her father run his business, she never imagined a complication like Cash and Nash Davenport—twin brothers different in so many ways but with one thing in common: an uncontrollable desire for Olivia.

Cash is dangerous, sexy, and bad to the bone—a man whose kisses make Olivia forget she is playing with fire. Nash is successful, reliable and intensely passionate—and already taken. But all it takes is one soft stroke to make Olivia forget he belongs to someone else.

However, Olivia is in for a surprise. These boys have a secret that should make her run away as far and as fast as she can. If only it wasn’t too late. A sensual game between three players has begun, and it’s about to spin deliriously out of control.

Up to MeSeries: Bad Boys #2
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Publication Date: 8/6/13

M. Leighton’s Down to You was just the beginning. Up to Me has even more shockers in store!” (Examiner.com)

For Olivia, romantic bliss has never felt so right as it does with Cash. Unpredictable, except when it comes to satisfying her desires, Cash’s bad boy’ reputation is well-earned, but he’s turning his life around with the one woman who accepts him for who he is.

Until strangers from the past turn Olivia and Cash’s world upside down. What they want is something only Cash can give them. And if he doesn’t deliver, then they’re taking the one thing that Cash values the most.

Olivia always knew that in falling for Cash she was likely to get burned. But this new threat is beyond anything she imagined. Now she has to trust Cash with her life—and for Olivia that’s much easier than letting go, and trusting him with her heart.

Everything For Us (The Bad Boys, #3)Series: Bad Boys #3
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Publication Date: 9/3/13

When it comes to passion this hot, it’s all or nothing.

Olivia Townsend’s wealthy cousin Marissa had everything a girl could ask for—a great job, a privileged life, and all the friends she wanted. Or, at least, all the friends money could buy. But one case of mistaken identity has turned her privileged world upside down.

An abduction gone wrong lands her right in the lap of the sexiest, most dangerous man she’s ever met. To Marissa, he’s an enigma, but one to whom she’s irresistibly, inexplicably drawn.

With him comes a new world of freedom and passion, of dark shadows and dangerous secrets, a world where nothing is what it seems—except for the blind passion that Marissa can’t escape—or maybe even survive.

Excerpt from Everything for Us

“They’re just parts, like any other woman’s,” she replies breathlessly, trying to be casual.

“I’d be willing to bet your parts are exceptional. In fact, now might be a good time to warn you that if we come back to this library, I’ll find out for myself. In this very spot. I’ll push you up against the books in the corner and I’ll put my hands on you. I’ll do things to you. In the quiet. And you won’t be able to make a sound. Not a whimper, not a moan. You’ll have to bite your lip to keep it all inside. And you know what?” I ask, reaching up to trace my index finger along her full, trembling lower lip.

“What?” she whispers, her pupils two dilated dots of excitement.

“You’ll love every second of it.”

With a wicked grin, I take the books from her arms and turn to walk back the way I came.

EEEEE!!! I can't wait to read Everything for Us!!! Be sure to add the books to your to-read list.

Format: eARC
Source: Received from author for review.

Happily ever after doesn’t come easy.  But for love, it’s always worth the fight.

Olivia finds bliss unlike any she’s ever known in Cash’s arms.  He sets her skin on fire and melts her heart right inside her chest.  Unfortunately, their happily ever after is short-lived when a shadow from Cash’s past threatens to turn their world upside down.

Excerpt

Cash’s back is to me. I see him run his fingers through his hair and I hear him sigh again.  “I’m asking you to trust me, Olivia.”  He turns to face me.  “Trust in what you know about me.  Because I know, if you stop listening to your fear, you know who I am.  Deep down.  You know me, Olivia.  You know me.”

His voice is sincere. His expression is urgent.  I close my eyes against his face, his handsome face, the face that haunts both my waking and my sleeping world.  I open them again when I feel warm hands cup my cheeks.  Cash is a breath away, his eyes pools of midnight, drawing me in.

“It’s me,” he says softly.  “Stop listening to everything else.  Remember the way you feel when I’m kissing you and touching you.  Don’t think with your head.  You know me.  And when my lips are on yours, you trust me.”  As if to make his point, he dips his head and brushes his mouth over mine.  Sparks fly between us.  As always.  “You trust me, when my hands are on your skin.”  He runs his palms down my arms and then over to my waist where he pushes them up under the edge of my shirt.  Chills break out down my back.  “You trust me when you turn your mind off, when you just feel.”

** Oh boy, I loved that scene!**

** This review does not contain spoilers for Up to Me.**

Oh my gosh! It is going to be a tough, tough job to review Up to Me without giving spoilers! Hmmm... what can I say about Up to Me? It's scorching hot; this is Cash we're dealing with here. It's suspenseful, going in a direction I honestly never imagined when I began this series. And it is shocking. SHOCKING, I say! Yeah, I better stop right there because I seriously want to just shout it out. But I won't. You're welcome.

Okay, I really enjoyed Down to You, it was funny, sexy, and surprising. I didn't love every decisioin the characters made, but that's life. People don't make smart or logical choices at least half of the time. I also felt that Olivia was a little too accepting of Cash and his misleading lifestyle. Because of this, I was a bit scared to start Up to Me. Would all the lies be glossed over? Would Cash and Olivia be blissfully in love without a care about the past?

I am happy to say that Leighton handled the newly formed relationship between Cash and Olivia very well. Olivia is with Cash, and she does believe in him, but there are doubts. And questions. And even if I personally would push an issue like that with my guy, until we both went crazy, Olivia chooses to trust Cash, what she feels, what she sees in his eyes, and let her heart take the lead. I think she's made a great decision. ;-) And to that, I'll add: Really, there are no guarantees in love.

Besides the relationship between Cash and Olivia, we also have an insanely intense plot in Up to Me. Bad things happen. Shady people from Cash's past, not of his own doing, come back to take away what's his. There is a lot of maneuvering and manipulating to get through this doozy with everyone safe and sound. An upside to this scenario is Gavin, an old friend and ally of Cash's. He is so sexy and great with a funny line to ease the tension. I WANT MORE GAVIN. And like I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the shocker. I want to talk about this sooooo badly. *slams head on desk repeatedly*

Michelle Leighton delivered a real treat with Up to Me. Fans of Down to You are going to love it.

Favorite Quote:

I run my fingers through my hair again. My hard-on isn't a problem anymore; the sound of Marissa's voice took care of that. In fact, it almost gave me a damned vagina.

And when my lips are on yours, you trust me." As if to make his point, he dips his head and brushes his mouth over mine. Sparks fly between us. As always. "You trust me, when my hands are on your skin." He runs his palms down my arms and then over my waist where he pushes them up under the edge of my shirt. Chills break out down my back. "You trust me when you turn your mind off, when you just feel."

"You're crazy, you know that, right?"
"Of course. Was it supposed to be a secret?"
"No, I think that ship has sailed."
I turn my head slightly and bite his flat male nipple.
"Ouch! Keep doing that and you'll get the best damn spanking you've ever had."
"I've never been spanked befor, so the bar is set very low."

No one says anything for a few minutes, not until Gavin breaks the tense silence. "Damn, that woman is one mighty bitch. I think my balls just now dropped back down."

And now take a look at what's up for grabs.

Passion as hot as midnight in the South and love as wild as the horses they tame.

Camille “Cami” Hines is the darling daughter of the South’s champion thoroughbred breeder, Jack Hines. She has a pedigree that rivals some of her father’s best horses. Other than feeling a little suffocated at times, Cami thought she was pretty happy with her boyfriend, her life and her future.

But that was before she met Patrick Henley.

“Trick” blurs the lines between what Cami wants and what is expected of her. He’s considered the “help,” which is forbidden fruit as far as her father is concerned, not to mention that Trick would be fired if he ever laid a hand on her. And Trick needs his job. Desperately. His family depends on him.

The heart wants what the heart wants, though, and Trick and Cami are drawn to each other despite the obstacles. At least the ones they know of.

When Trick stumbles upon a note from his father, it triggers a series of revelations that could ruin what he and Cami have worked so hard to overcome. It turns out there’s more to Trick’s presence at the ranch than either of them knew, secrets that could tear them apart.

From it's sexy, awesome opening sequence to the jaw-dropping end, Down to You is a story that will keep you laughing and swooning as you turn the pages.

Wow. I have absolutely no idea of how to write this review without spoiling the story! So I'm going to attempt to be very general in terms of story, but talk more about the characters. Here goes...

Olivia is a senior in college, and living with her uber-bitch cousin Marissa. When Olivia "meets" Cash (It's awesome. Trust me.) the chemistry is through the roof, but she writes him off as the typical "bad boy" she wants to avoid. Then Olivia finally meets Marissa's boyfriend Nash. Well-educated and well-employed, Nash is everything Olivia thinks she needs in a man. Oh yeah, he's Cash's twin. Olivia and Nash also have smoking chemistry, naturally, and this makes for some awkward and steamy situations because nothing says family like coveting your cousins BF. Cash wants Olivia. Olivia wants Cash...and Nash. And oh, what a tangled web is woven. Good times, right? The deeper Olivia becomes involved with the Davenport brothers, the more her heart is on the line. And when the truth finally comes out, Olivia is in for the shock of her life.

Oh, Olivia. I adored her, I really did. The poor girl just can't keep it together in front of the Davenport twins. Falling down in front of the guy she's lusting after, having a car that refuses to cooperate after falling down in front of said guy...

"What seems to be the problem?'
"I have no clue. I have ovaries; therefore I repel all things mechanical."

I loved Olivia's spirit. She's a fighter through and through. As for being hot-and-heavy with her cousin's boyfriend... not so much. But, like it or not, sometimes our hearts do the deciding for us and the choices aren't always pretty.

Cash and Nash are complicated. I can't say much more than that, honestly. They're sexy, seductive, smart, and charming. I loved Cash, hardcore. Sexy man without a girlfriend? Seems like the logical decision. Being that they're twins, I obviously liked Nash too. I mean, he is a really decent guy. Except that he has a girlfriend. A girlfriend who happens to be your cousin. That you live with. And Olivia can't help but fall for Nash, too. Stupid, stupid heart. Did I mention this scenario is complicated?

As the story unfolded, there were a few plot points and explanations that didn't quite fall into place for me. It was nothing that kept me from enjoying the overall story. It was more an issue of logistics and a feeling of details  being a bit rushed and explanations coming too easy, and perhaps more of this will be dealt with in the next book. YES! You read that right. There will be a book two!

Down to You is funny. And sexy. And sometimes funny while being sexy. This is easily the most hilarious book M. Leighton has written yet. And the sexiest. Okay, no more beating around the bush. I'll just say it: You're probably going to need some "spare parts", and some ice to cool you down, to get through the yummy, yummy sexy-times in Down to You.

Surprising, sexy and fun, Down to You is a book that will steam you up and have you guessing until the very last page.

" I sigh. Loudly. Trying to give Ginger directions and then expecting her to actually show up at the correct location is a lot like throwing a knife into the air. It's dangerous, stupid and somebody could end up getting hurt. She has landed us in questionable parts of town more than once, places I would never dream of getting out of the car. Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can.  But it’s too late to run.  Olivia’s already involved.  And in love.  With both of them.

Both brothers make her heart tremble.  Both brothers set her body on fire.

She wants them both.

And they want her.

How will she ever choose between them?

So now you know what Down to You is all about, you're excited, yeah? Me too. But wait, I have excerpts!

Excerpt number one, Olivia meeting Cash for the first time.

Taking a deep breath, I stand and turn toward the Hot Stripper Guy, purposely jacking my chin up another notch.  He’s still watching me with those smoky coal eyes.

When I take a step toward him, he very slowly raises one eyebrow.

Heat washes through me.

Must be those dangerous drinks, I think.  It has to be.

I feel flushed and a little breathless, but I take another step anyway.

Hot Stripper Guy takes a step away from Ginger and turns to face me fully.  He crosses his arms over his chest and waits, that one brow still raised in curiosity.  He’s not going to make it easy.  He’s leaving it all up to me, just like Ginger asked them to do.

As if on cue, the music that’s been pumping into the room all night gets louder.  It’s a sexy song, heavy on the bass.  It’s mood music for sure.  It seems to punctuate every intense beat of my heart as I get closer and closer to those velvety eyes.

When I stop in front of him, I have to look up.  My five and a half feet of height is nearly a foot shorter than his towering frame.

Up close, I see that his eyes are brown.  Dark, dark brown.  Nearly black.

Sinful.

I’m lost in wondering why that particular word would come to mind when the girls start chanting for me to take his shirt off.  Uncertainly, I glance at their excited faces then back to him.  Slowly, he spreads his arms, holding them out to his sides, away from his body.

One corner of his mouth twitches.  His expression, his body language is rife with challenge.

I realize he doesn’t think I’ll do it.  No one probably does.

And that’s exactly why I will.
Letting the beat of the music relax my tense muscles, I plaster on a smile as I reach forward to tug Hot Stripper Guy’s shirt from the waistband of his pants.

And Excerpt Number Two, the same scene from Cash's point of view, and a continuation of the scene.

Damn, she’s beautiful!

Between this girl’s black hair, her bright probably-green eyes, her banging little body and the way she seems a tiny bit shy, I’m wishing we were alone in this room together.

Her smile doesn’t leave her lips as she runs her hands around my waist, untucking my shirt.  When it’s free, she starts to pull it up.

But then she pauses.  For a split second, I see her hesitate.  She’s trying not to show that she’s unsure of herself, of what she’s doing.

I stare down into those liquid eyes.  I don’t want her to stop.  I want to feel her hands on my skin.  So I taunt her, hoping to feed the feline that I’d be willing to bet is buried somewhere down deep.

“Oh, come on.  Is that all you got?” I whisper.

Her eyes bore into mine and I hold my breath, waiting to see which side will win.  In fascination, I watch as the balance of power shifts and the change is reflected in her eyes.  They get a little brighter, a little feistier.  I’ve never actually seen someone muster courage.  Determination.  Something in this girl refuses to give in, to back down.  She’s rising to the challenge.  And it’s hot as hell.

She keeps her eyes on mine as she starts to pull up my shirt.  She leans in closer and I get a whiff of her perfume.  It’s sweet and a little musky.  Sexy.  Just like her.

She has to plaster her body to mine and stretch up on her tiptoes to get my shirt over my head.  I can feel her breasts pushing against my chest.  I could make the task easier for her.  But I don’t.  I like the feel of her rubbing against me.  There’s no way I’m ruining that.

Once she has my shirt off, she backs up and looks me over. She’s shy about it.  That much is obvious.  It’s like she wants to look, but she’s a little embarrassed to, which actually makes it more of a turn on for some reason.  I’m sure every other eye in the room is watching me, watching us, but hers are the only ones I can feel.  They’re like tongues of fire, licking my skin.  They’re searing and tangible.  Or at least they feel that way to me.

I take a deep breath and her eyes drop to my stomach.  Then they flicker down a little further.  She stares longer than she should, but not nearly as long as I want her to.  I start to get hard.

Her eyes widen and her lips fall open just enough for her tongue to sneak out and wet them.  I have to grit my teeth to keep from pulling her to me and kissing that lush little mouth of hers.

Light pours into the room. It’s just enough to break the spell.

So...yeah. That was, wow. I loved it and seriously can't wait to read Down to You.

Expected Publication Date is October 2nd. Down to You doesn't have a GoodReads page yet, but stay tuned.

M. LeightonI was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it's there. I believe that I'm shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can't be sure because I haven't met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer's too hot, winter's too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all.
