Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's WoW selection is...
Genre: Contemporary Young Adult
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: 5/21/13
Ashleigh's boyfriend, Kaleb, is about to leave for college, and Ashleigh is worried that he'll forget about her while he's away. So at a legendary end-of-summer pool party, Ashleigh's friends suggest she text him a picture of herself -- sans swimsuit -- to take with him. Before she can talk herself out of it, Ashleigh strides off to the bathroom, snaps a photo in the full-length mirror, and hits "send."
But when Kaleb and Ashleigh go through a bad breakup, Kaleb takes revenge by forwarding the text to his baseball team. Soon the photo has gone viral, attracting the attention of the school board, the local police, and the media. As her friends and family try to distance themselves from the scandal, Ashleigh feels completely alone -- until she meets Mack while serving her court-ordered community service. Not only does Mack offer a fresh chance at friendship, but he's the one person in town who received the text of Ashleigh's photo -- and didn't look.
Acclaimed author Jennifer Brown brings readers a gripping novel about honesty and betrayal, redemption and friendship, attraction and integrity, as Ashleigh finds that while a picture may be worth a thousand words . . . it doesn't always tell the whole story.
Why I'm Waiting ~ I'm a huge, huge fan of Jennifer Brown. Thousand Words was brought to my attention by my contemporary soulmate, Jenni at Alluring Reads.

This sounds absolutely broken, I love it. Thanks a lot for sharing, it'll definitively go onto my tbr. My WoW
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like one of those deep, thoughtful books that are perfectly suited for you. :) It sounds great, if not a little sad, and I'm going to add it to my TBR right now so I don't forget about it. Thanks for sharing! Here's my WoW. Happy Wednesday, Andrea! :D
ReplyDeleteLove Jennifer Brown and now you've given me a new cover for my Pinterest Board. Great pick! Come check out my WoW!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this as Jenni's WoW I was interested in it and now you have reminded me that I need to put this on my TBR list. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great read, especially for teens who are going thru this in this day and age. Technology is great, but sometimes I feel like it's a bad seed, and our children will be exposed to new ways of bullying and embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteI love the simple yet powerful cover and though I haven't read any Jennifer Brown as yet, I'm definitely going to pick this one up. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW!
Sana @ artsy musings of a bibliophile
This sounds like a book that would unfortunately annoy me as the whole plot could be avoided if the girl never took the photo in the first place. I hope you enjoy it though :)
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
Ok...first let me address this soulmate comment. I'm crushed. I thought I was your soulmate. *wipes tears* LOL Anyway, this does sound good. I'll add it to my TBR now.
ReplyDeleteOh jeeze, this sounds like a book that a lot of girls need to read! There are too many stories like this in the real world unfortunately! Sounds like a good read!
ReplyDeleteI also discovered J. Brown via Jenni's blog and even though I haven't read that road trip book yet, I feel like I love this author already and I added this book to my TBR pile immediately. Love that you featured this one!
ReplyDeleteSiiri @ Little Pieces of Imagination
This is definitely something I would like. I am in such a contemporary romance phase right now. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteYou are really adding a lot of contemporary books to my mostly paranormal TBR... and I like it! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my WoW. Happy Reading!
I love the sound of this one as well.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to read it soon! Brandi from Blkosiner’s Book Blog
Hadn't heard of it but sounds good :) Adding it to my tbr list now!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like one of those books that will really frustrate me but in a really good way. Kind of like Avoiding Commitment by KA Linde.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick. Sadly, a timely topic as well.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds right up my alley. I added it on Goodreads! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI teach a whole unit on why NOT to click send in this situation! Gonna have to read this and add it to my reading shelf at school for sure.
ReplyDeleteValerie
Oh, no, he didn't :O
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so good. And already loving Mack from the synopsis, haha.
Awesome choice. Adding this to my to-read list on goodreads :)
Thanks for sharing & for stopping by my post =)
haha I agree oh no he didn't! I'd get some crazy revenge on his ass. He would regret leaking those pictures. But seriously this type of thing has become a huge issue lately with social media and bullying on social websites and sending pictures you shouldn't. Sounds good! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteWOW. (See what I did there?! God, I'm so lame. It's from all the homework I've been doing) Thanks for adding another book to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteI have not read anything by Jennifer Brown, but this sounds like a terrific read and since the author is a favorite of yours, I will have to give her a try. Plus, the world needs more stand alones.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds awesome!! Great pick. I knew that the story was not headed in a good direction the moment the premise talked about her *sans* pic.
