Blog Tour ~ LYING SEASON, by Karina Halle

Welcome to The Bookish Babe's stop on the LYING SEASON Blog Tour. This tour is hosted by A Tale of Many Reviews. Today I have author Karina Halle's picks for her LYING SEASON Dream Cast, followed by a giveaway.

Perry Palomino

Perry Palomino is actually a very funny girl, so for someone to play her right on the big screen, they have to have comedic chops. Alison Brie as Annie on Community not only combines the comedy, but the heart and sex-appeal as well. She’s sweet and innocent yet has a past that says the opposite. She’s a giant spazz and an ex-pill popper. Perfect. Sure, Brie is a bit skinnier than Perry is, but the boobs are there.

Dex Foray

Dex has always been a pain in the butt to cast (in my head) because though I can see a million different people and faces which I draw from, there really isn’t anyone out there that represents him as a whole. The man is an enigma and he’s handsome in a very unconventional way. Not too tall, not too muscular, and with an eyebrow ring and, what the hell, a mustache, Dex is disarmingly sexy to many, and easily overlooked by others.

I compared Dex to a young Robert Downey Jr in Darkhouse, and I think a young Mike Patton would play quite him well too.

But if I were to stick to who actually acts and is current (and young), I’d take a chance on Taylor Kitsch.

He needs a good role after John Carter tanked, and he’s got the looks (and reported acting skills) to pull off Perry’s mysterious, manic and moody partner-in-crime. In other words, he’s the guy that has everyone throwing their copy of Lying Season across the room when they’ve finished the book.

Jennifer Rodriguez

To play Dex’s deceptively sweet, gorgeous latina girlfriend (and co-host of the popular webseries Wine Babes), I can’t think of anyone better than Jessica Alba. Probably helps that I despise Jessica Alba and I despise Jenn, so it works out pretty well. UGH.

Hmmmm. Who can we cast to play a playboy douchebag called Bradley? WE HAVE A WINNER.

Ada Palomino

The sullen, snarky teenage fashion blogger (and Perry’s sister) Ada Palomino has bleached blonde hair, edgy style and heavy-handed eye makeup. Casting Taylor Momsen here is a no brainer!

Jimmy Kwan

Ah, Perry and Dex’s boss, the formidable Jimmy Kwan. I couldn’t help but picture Francois Chau as I wrote. I miss Lost.

Rebecca Sims

The "Wine Babe" Rebecca has always been described as being impeccably groomed with a black bob and retro-fashion sense, the perfect on-and-off screen foil to bodacious, annoying Jenn. Who better to emulate this on screen than Dita Von Teese? She’s got the glamor down (though Rebecca’s style is admittedly more restrained) and the saucy, take no prisoner’s attitude that wins Perry over.

Cute, funny, moon-faced blonde? When I spied Sara Paxton, she matched up perfectly for what I had in mind for Rebecca’s partner. What a hot couple!

Having read the EXPERIMENT IN TERROR series, I have to say these are excellent choices!

DARKHOUSE, book one in the series, is currently FREE at all online markets!
You can get your free copy at:

a Rafflecopter giveaway

  1. There wasn't a spot for it in the Rafflecopter form, but here is my name & email: Penelope Lolohea - readingfever {@} gmail dot com

Anyway, this is a fantastic dream cast! I love the choice of Dita Von Teese. I love her style!

  2. What a great cast :) !! I absolutely love Taylor Kitsch so if there's a character that looks like him in The Experiment in Terror series I have to pick up a copy of the first book :)

  3. BRADLEY! Omg this cast is HOT!!! I find Jessica Alba one of the most genuinely prettiest actresses out there.

  4. I love that cast! OMG Bradley Cooper is just super hot!! I think Jessica Alba is super gorgeous!! I really need to read this series. I got the first one a little while ago on for my nook, but haven't read it. I will soon though. This series sounds like it's so good!!

    1. Weird, I just checked on B&N and Darkhouse, Dead Sky Morning, and Lying Season are all on there for nook, but the second book, Red Fox isn't.

    2. Lol and I totally suck. I always comment before going to the form. I do believe in paranormal activity. I have experienced it, and it was terrifying. There is a place called the Hoosac Tunnel that is sort of near where I live. I had gone a few times and never saw or heard anything, but the last time I went there was definitely something there. I had never really gone in further than the entrance, and this time I went really far in. I was literally like one of those dumb girls in the horror movies that trips and falls while running away lol. I was so scared I couldn't feel my legs or get them to work right.

  5. Nice call on Robert Downey Jr. & Mike Patton. Both great choices. I am literally the only woman on earth who doesn't find Taylor Kitsch attractive whatsoever but after seeing him on Friday Night Lights he definitely does sulky well!

Great casting, especially Bradley Cooper, who I find completely gross. I LOL'ed at the "playboy douchebag" thing.

  6. I don't "believe" in ghosts exactly. I haven't witnessed any paranormal activity in my life, but I won't rule it out as a possibility. Once I witness something, I might start believing.

I'm still reading the first in the series, so when I get further in and meet these characters I'm interested to see if I envision these actors :)

  7. I was picturing Jensen Ackles from Supernatural to play Dex.

  8. I have to say that these are really good choices. I agree with all of them ;-) Maybe except for Dex, Johnny Depp would be completely awesome as that character. But Mike Patton works just as much too. He's crazy lol

I loved loved loved this entire series. And I did want to throw my book after finishing Lying Season. So I can't wait for On Demon Wings. Soooooooo much to think about.

    Awesome post Twinsie!

  9. I love putting faces to characters in a book! Nice post.

  10. Thanks for the giveaway! I just started Darkhouse and loving it so far! Don't know if I believe in ghosts as I've never had a paranormal experience... :(

  11. Great casting! I can see each on of these in their respective roles. As for believing in ghosts...I definitely do and have experienced a few hauntings myself. Love this series!

  12. I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks, I do, I do, I do!

  13. So, is this book part of Experiment in Terror? I'm confused. I need to read those books! I was just thinking about them this morning--how odd....

  14. I've only read about ghosts. Not sure if I believe in them.

  15. Yes, I have experienced paranormal activity.

  16. Yes I believe in ghosts and have experienced paranormal activity!

  17. Definitely believe in ghosts. Can't say I've really experienced paranormal activity...

    Great casting choices!
