PIRACY SUCKS!! SO I'M HAVING A GIVEAWAY!

Ya'll. I am SO mad right now, I could just die. (As you can see, when I get really mad, I talk very Southern.) It's a lovely day in Arkansas. My kids are getting along. I've been reading my little heart out. Then I come home to find this:

(click the title to read the post)
on Jennifer L Armentrout's blog.

So, then I was like

Angry Andrea is NOT a good thing.

So in the spirit of BUYING BOOKS, I just went online to Book Depository. I bought two copies of Half - Blood. One for me. And a copy for one of you lovelies.

All you have to do is leave a comment with your name and email address. I'm so mad, I don't even care if you follow this blog (but it sure would be nice if you did!) I want the word to get out about book piracy, so if you want to earn an extra entry, you can Tweet, Facebook, or blog about it (but only one please, my head hurts when I have to add extra entries!). Just leave me a link with your entry.

As Jennifer points out in her post, if you can't afford to buy a book, go to the library. If the library doesn't have it, request it. If you can't afford an $3.99 ebook, chances are, you can't afford the e-reader you use or the wireless internet you just uploaded a stolen book with.

There. Rant over. Buy books, don't steal!

Oh, and this is US only because I'm an idiot who went ahead and hit send instead of waiting to get the winner's address and International shipping sucks! Sorry!

Ends Monday, October 3, 2011!
The winner Half-Blood is:

Poison Ivy Red!!

Congratulations!

I'm so happy to see that so many of you feel as strongly about book piracy as I do!
Thanks for entering!

  9. I didn't know piracy was an issue with books until a year or two ago, when I got really invovled in the "book" world.

Thanks for the giveaway! And a new follower! I tweeted about your giveaway, but I lack the knowledge of knowing how to post the link of a specific tweet (if that's possible) so I can only give you the link to my profile! Sorry this causes headaches!

  22. I'm so disgusted that this happened.. I may be new to the book blogging world, but our purpose is to share our love of books and help promote them, not destroy sales, and hurt the Authors.

I have had my eye on this book for a while.. I plan to buy it and make a trailer if I don't win..

count me in though! This a sweet thing you are doing.

  34. I think piracy sucks too, but you should open giveaways to international followers too! ALL giveaways are US only and I don't think it's the least bit fair. I get pretty bummed out here in Brazil with all these awesome giveaways... :( Honestly, I would even cover the shipping, I don't care.

  36. Mayra,
I understand your frustration. But if you take a look, you will see that posted that the US only part was b/c of a mistake I made. Not an intentional slight to Internationals. I DO typically have Intl giveaways at least 1-2 times per month. They can't always be Intl b/c the shipping is astronomical. I have bought this book with my own money and feel that gives me the discretion to make it US only. I could send it to someone you know in the US, who in turn could send it to you. Or if you would like to send me a prepaid shipping label, I would be glad to send it to you. But that is more expensive than the book, I'm sure. Book blogging is not cheap. I send A LOT of books out, at my own expense. I buy many books to give away, at my own expense. I'm sorry I can't always accomodate everyone.

  37. Andrea, I understand. Cuddos on the blog and the giveaways. I'll be on the lookout for an international one then! :)

  41. Oh my goodness. I love writing and I plan on publishing a book of my own one day, and to think that some crazy jerks would pirate my story and share it illegally breaks my heart. I feel so sorry for Jennifer! There really do need to be super strict laws about pirating.
