Rocked Under (Rocked #1)Series: Rocked #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publication Date: 12/31/12
Format: ebook
Pages: 304

Falling in love isn't always easy or pleasant. The intense and angst-filled story of Emma and Scott is a painful, gut-wrenching and exhausting portrayal of how hard it can be to let go...

Nineteen year-old Emma Harrington’s number one rule is; Never give your heart away to a man, no matter what. That lesson was learned early on in her life and she will never forget it.

Starting over in the USA, Emma starts college with her cousin, Ashley. She is finally free to do and live how she wants and no man will ever rule her decisions or emotions again.

That is until Scott Mason walks on stage…

Intense, bad boy Scott is the lead singer in a local and popular rock band. Ladies man and Ashley’s longtime friend, Emma is instantly drawn to him, even though he is everything she hates and needs to stay away from in a guy. He treats females like he does a cigarette; light it, use it, and lose it.

For her cousin’s sake, she makes an effort to get along with Scott. She soon discovers that there is more to Scott which makes him even more dangerous in her eyes. Underneath the façade of friendship; jealousy, obsession, fear and insecurities, fester and battle it out as she fights her attraction and history from repeating itself.

One thing she knows for sure is that if she breaks her rule, it may destroy her.

I'm going to start by admitting that I was a bit worried about starting Rocked Under. There are so many books out there featuring bad boy rockers and the sweet, innocent girls that love them. I've enjoyed some, others not so much. But after reading a few pages of Rocked Under, I was completely hooked, and absolutely flew through the book.

Here's the deal: Rocked Under is a bit of an emotional roller coaster. Emma and Scott will drive some people bananas with their back-and-forth antics. I usually don't care for this myself, but for some reason, the craziness actually worked for me. I think maybe it worked because I could truly see where each character is coming from, with the hesitation.

Emma is only eighteen, and has just moved to the US from London. She moves in with her cousin Ash, and quickly is brought into the circle of friends. Emma is dealing with the divorce of her parents, and the problems her reaction to the divorced caused. She doesn't want to end up like her mom, depressed and alone. Therefore, she wants a "safe" guy. A guy who won't cheat on her, won't break her spirit.

That guy, by all appearances and actions, is not Scott Mason. Scott is the sexy, womanizing lead singer of a local rising band, From Under, and is T-R-O-U-B-L-E. He goes through women like most of us go through gum, and has no qualms with who knows it. Ash has warned Scott away from Emma, but something about her drives her crazy. Oh, he also lives in the apartment upstairs.

Emma and Scott have an insanely intense physical attraction to one another. She doesn't want to want Scott, but he's all she fantasizes about. He wants to be the only guy in Emma's life, and proves that by beating the beans out of any guy who touches her, but feels he's not good enough for her. Most of the confusion and misunderstandings between Scott and Emma could be erased if they actually had a true conversation about their feelings, but that would be too easy, and they each make decisions based on assumptions. I'm not going to pretend that half of what Scott and Emma do makes any sense. He continues to sleep with other girls, in the apartment above her, while he is in love with Emma. Emma goes out with other guys, and leads some of them on, in an effort to hit back at Scott and make him jealous.

I think the reason I could go along with the craziness because the author did a really good job of reiterating Emma's reasons for pushing Scott away. Whereas some may say she was a tease, I might say that Emma was protecting her heart. Instead of jumping into bed with a guy like Scott, she insists on not being just another one of his girls. Emma makes Scott prove that he only wants her, and I like that. As someone who only told one man my entire life I loved him, after seven months of dating (and after he said it first), I can identify with a girl who doesn't toss around the word "love" like candy. I actually appreciate that.

So I think I've said, a few times, that Rocked Under was intense. It was also sweet, sad, funny, and super sexy. It made me crazy and happy and that says a lot about a book. I didn't dare hope for a happy ending, but I was sooo happy with the ending of Rocked Under, and can't wait for the next book.

"I've committed every part of you to memory, did you know that?" A pained expression entered his eyes. "You're so f*cking beautiful that sometimes I can't see straight." His other hand came up to my face. "I want you so bad, I can't take this sh*t. The first night we met, it was like being hit by a tornado all over again. You entering my life was a huge event and you shook and shifted everything for me. I want you to be mine and," he paused, "I want to be yours."  ~69%

He dropped to his knees in front of me and gripped my face. His eyes pierced mine and I could see the need shining through them.
I closed my eyes, not wanting to see it.
"Let me have you," his voice was gravelly, my heart squeezed. "I'll show you I don't want anyone else."  ~87%

My Teaser ~

"Hold it like this," he whispered close to my ear as he moved my hand into the right position.
His breath tickled me, making a shudder run down my back.
He paused for a second and I thought he had noticed. "And if you," he slid his hot hand under my thigh gently and lifted it for me until only my toes were touching the floor, "raise your knee, you can rest it here."
"Okay," I whispered. It was all I was capable of saying with his hands all over me. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
He took his hands away and rested them on my thighs. "Now try." His voice was gruff.  ~eARC, 25%
