I fell in love with Kristen Ashley's writing with the Rock Chick series. Since then, I've decide to devote a week/month to each of her series. August was Rock Chick. September was Colorado Mountain. October is Dream Man.
Series: Dream Man #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
Publication Date: SP 7/13/11, now w/Forever 12/11/12
Rating: 5 stars
Night time is the right time...
Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He's hot, he's sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it's a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he's the one, she just can't turn him away...
Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She's gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver's lethal underground scene, Hawk's protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore....
You might not believe me, but I was very hesitant about Mystery Man. I don't really go for stories in which a woman lets an unseen man into her bed. Let alone time after time. I could never repeatedly get it on with a dude I'm not quite sure about. It may make me shallow, but I have to see what's on or around me (or in me, as it were). Luckily, my book crisis was averted, because although this mystery man does visit Gwen Kidd in the dark, she did actually meet him in a bar, and rest assured, Cabe "Hawk" Delgado is H-O-T.
But who was I really kidding. All of Kristen Ashley's men are ridiculously hot, mysterious, and sexy. There also the strong and silent type and Hawk was no exception. He's also a law-dancing commando of the Lee Nightingale variety, which makes him a particularly swoon-worthy badass, in my opinion.
I loved the mysterious and sexy nature of Gwen and Hawk's relationship. And how rapidly it changed when Gwen inadvertently finds herself in serious danger. In this series, much like the Rock Chick and Colorado Mountain series, you have a sweet and fun heroine, a dark and mysterious badass Alpha Male who makes it his life mission to protect his woman, and crazy dangerous scenarios that have you gasping one moment and laughing the next.
Mystery Man has a wicked cool cameo....THE HOT BUNCH. Anyone who's followed my love for all things Rock Chick know that I am all about the men of Nightingale Investigations. When I unexpectedly get the treat of Lee Nightingale and LUKE STARK? Let's just say my Happy Meter went through the roof.
Mystery Man was fabulous. Although I was a little hesitant about the premise for the relationship, I was sold with two pages. It was a sexy and dangerous, fun and heartbreaking. The set-up for the rest of the series has me almost giddy with anticipation. And most importantly, I've learned to never doubt Kristin Ashley. After reading thirteen books of hers in a row, I've come to realize she can win me, anytime and anywhere.
A Favorite Moment:
One of his hands left my back. I watched his eyes get heated and intense as they studied my face. Then he did something beautiful, something amazing, something that, if I'd had any doubts as to my certainty, they would have disintegrated.
He tenderly slid the backs of his knuckles against the skin of my cheek while he muttered, "A year and a half. Totally missed out."

I LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE this series and Hawk is just so freaking Alpha-liscious. I did a reread of this series of last month and after I finished all four books I went back and reread them again. LOL. I even have MM in audiobook. That's how seriously obsessed I am with this series. I'm waiting for the rest of the books to be on audio just so I can listen to them all one right after the other.ReplyDelete
I seriously need to get to this series asap. I love that Kristen Ashley is an author whose books really work for you. Hawk sounds sexy and the chemistry between the couple sounds super hot. I'll definitely check this one out!ReplyDelete
Awesome review, Andrea!
I have not read any of her books yet, but I heard a lot of amazing stuff about them including this series. I can see why you were hesitant about this book heh I would be as well.ReplyDelete
Gwen and Hawk have an intriguing roamnceReplyDelete
Great Review! You sold me. I want to get all these books/Series. Sounds Great!
I've read this but not the other Dream Man books. Must get to them because they're all on deck. The only pet peeve I had with Hawk was the whole filler business. I didn't like that there were other girls for the days of the week. I thought I might murder him over that. But I do remember I ended up loving him. The epilogues was one of the best!ReplyDelete
Because I didn't read the Rock Chick series I had no idea about the cameos. Someday I'll get to reading all her books. That's if I can stop scheduling new ones in! Wonderful review, Andrea! :)
I'm not sure about the titles, but the rest sounds great! And if you assure us it 'worked' I believe you!ReplyDelete
Glad you loved it! And YES---->"I could never repeatedly get it on with a dude I'm not quite sure about."ReplyDelete
