His Southern Temptation (The Boys are Back in Town, #2)Series: The Boys Are Back in Town #2

Publication Date: 4/13

Some women are bad. Some women are a bad idea. The best ones are both...

A former Black Ops assassin, “Lucky” Landon has had more near-misses than a man should ever have. Now he’s out of that business and settling into the simple life in his small hometown. So the last thing he ever expected was to end up at gunpoint. Or that the woman holding the gun would be his best friend’s little sister and Lucky’s on-again/off-again lover.

Taylor Elliott is Trouble, and she likes it that way. And seeing Lucky again? Well, he’s been her dirty little secret for the past few years and everyone knows that secrets in a small town are almost impossible to keep. But Taylor has bigger problems on her plate. Like the local mob boss who wants her dead.

And right now the only thing standing between Trouble and disaster is a hottie named Lucky...

His Southern Temptation was such a fun and sexy read! The story of a guy who falls for his best friend's sister is one of my very favorites. I loved that Lucky and Taylor already had a long history and an established relationship. This history has the story beyond the "getting to know you" phase and into the heart of the story, Lucky convincing Taylor to take a chance on love.

Lucky Landon is my favorite kind of book guy. He's sexy (of course!), but also a genuinely good guy who cares a lot for his family and friends. Lucky was a former Marine, and had spent years doing covert operations that left him wanting the peace and comfort of him. Over the years, Lucky would meet up with Taylor, the younger sister of his best friend. Lucky found peace in Taylor and now hopes to convince her to stay and take a chance at a real relationship. OH! Here's a biggie (for me): Lucky has dark blond hair. Now this might not seem like pertinent information to some, but for someone who really likes dudes with dark blond hair, it's a huge plus! Don't get me wrong, I like a sexy dark haired guy as much as the next lady, but it seems almost every single book has one.

It's always nice to have a book in which the guy is chasing the girl, and the one who wants more. Taylor is definitely a lady who's hard to catch. And she has no interest in a true relationship with Lucky, or so she would like to think. Taylor was fun, a real free spirit who doesn't want to end up in a loveless relationship like her parents. I really appreciate authors who write women like Taylor. Women who are comfortable with themselves, their bodies, and with pleasure. And speaking of pleasure, this book had lots of it! Lucky and Taylor had been hooking up for so long and knew each others wants and pleasures so well. They were intense in their intimate moments, but also had a lot of fun.

His Southern Temptation is exactly what I'm looking for when I want a fun a steamy read. I spent a huge amount of time reading and swooning, but just as much time laughing. I haven't read the first book in the series, a companion, but I definitely will. Robin Covington is an author that I can highly recommend and will be excited to read more from in the future.

Favorite Quote:

"I'm beat. I'm covered in stripper glitter, I've almost been shot, lectured by the local sheriff at gunpoint, and you aren't wearing any underwear." He rubbed a hand over his face, the stubble rasping loudly in the still of the night. He really did look exhausted. With one good shove, he'd probably fall over and sleep on the floor. "A good soldier knows when to make a tactical retreat in order to fight another day."  ~ebook, 13%

"We do not have time for the shit I need to do to you," Lucky growled against her throat, the nip of teeth emphasizing the sexual frustration straining his words.
  "Want or need?"
  "Baby, it's a need. Don't you ever doubt it."  ~ebook, 29%

"God, I love you." Lucky whispered. Love turned his eyes to a hue that matched the vast sky serving as their cover tonight. "I dreamed of you...of this...just the thought of you kept me sane. If you only knew..."
Taylor's breath caught in her throat at the naked emotion on Lucky's face, the awe in his voice. Never had she thought that someone could look at her like that, like she was the only thing keeping him tethered to this earth.   ~ebook, 65%

  7. I really need to add this to my wishlist I love when the man will chase after his girl. I like that the girl can play hard to get at first because she wants him to prove something to her. I'm really tired of the women that just fall weak in the knees at the dominant man's feet.

    Thanks for the great review!
