{REVIEW} AFFIRMATION (LEGAL AFFAIRS #6) by SAWYER BENNETT

Affirmation (Legal Affairs, #6)Series: Legal Affairs #6
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Big Dog Books
Publication Date: 3/21/14
Format: eARC
Source: Author
Rating: 5 stars

Things are off, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Some things, however, are the same. For example, the sex with Matt is just as nuclear and consistent as it always has been.

Still… I feel like I’m holding onto Matt with my fingertips, like he’s on the verge of slipping away and I don’t know what to do.

When I started these Legal Affairs, I had no way of knowing the depth of feeling that would become involved. I had no way of knowing this man could shatter my existence.

I don’t want to be hurt, so I’m grasping hard and I can only hope that he wants me enough to hang on just as tight.

So. The Legal Affairs series has reached its conclusion with Affirmation and WOW...it went out on a hot, blazing, infuriating and sweet note.

I'm not sure if I've ever been so infuriated, yet so in love with a story as I was with Affirmation. Generally, when I'm as frustrated with a main character as I was Matt Connover, I just don't rate a book so highly. It may not be fair, but how can I love a book when a character infuriates me so much? I can't quite pinpoint the difference this time, other than noting that Sawyer Bennett is a manipulative genius with a knack for pushing me straight to the edge, then pulling me back with a change of heart (on Matt's part) or an epic smack down (from Mac).

Of course the big question of Affirmation is: Will Matt and Mac get their happy ending? I'm sure most will assume the answer, but I promise you, the story we get is a rough, emotional throat-punch, with a strong dose of sexy thrown throughout. It was a great, great ending, one that kept me on my toes until the very end.

The Legal Affairs series is a damn good use of the serial novella format. With it's humor, snark, sexiness, and angst, I highly recommend this series.

Favorite Quote

"You are like the perfect fucking woman," he says reverently, but also with good cheer, because he's getting ready to feel really, really good too.
"No, I'm not," I remind him, because otherwise, this wouldn't be our last time together. "But I'm damn close, so get your ass on this bed and get into position."

"I need you, Mac," he says with a shaky voice. "I need your smile, your touch, and your wit. I need your tenderness, your brilliance, and your common sense. I need you to be my champion, and I need you to want to come home to me every night. I need all of those things...desperately. I think I might die without them."

About the author

USA Today Best-Selling author, Sawyer Bennett, is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. She is married to a mobster (well, a market researcher) and they have two big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn't have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate.
