Brewing up trouble one pint at a time.

Enemies ...

After years away, Miranda Sweet returns to Salvation, Virginia to save her family's brewery, but her fate is in the hands of her lover-turned-enemy, Logan. What's a girl to do when the only person who can help her is the man who betrayed her?

Lovers ...

Logan Martin can't believe his luck when the woman who smashed his heart to smithereens walks into his bank asking for his help. What she doesn't know is that he needs the land her brewery is on--and he'll do whatever it takes to get it.

An Irresistible Combination ...

Their wager becomes a battle between their attraction and their determination to win. But it's in each other's arms that they realize there might be more at stake now than their bet. With the town against the Sweet Salvation Brewery's success, Logan has to choose between what's expected of him and what he really wants...

My Review

What do you get when you combine beer, a modern day Hatfields and McCoys, a second-chance romance, a going home story, and sexy fun times? You get Enemies on Tap, an intoxicating (couldn't resist the pun!) combination that makes for a happy Andrea.

So. I think I summed up Enemies on Tap quite nicely with that one paragraph. But just in case you need more, here goes. I really enjoyed both Miranda Sweet and Logan Martin, though I sided more with Miranda in most matters. I think that's due to all she endured as a member of the Sweet family. Sure, they're known for being on the wrong side of the law, but the fact that Miranda and her sisters, all hard-working and really good people, were treated so badly, especially by people who should know better, had me totally on her side. Logan Martin is one of the people who didn't do right by Miranda, but there's no time like the present to make things right, yeah?

Well, not so fast, because Logan doesn't begin this story as a completely good guy. He gets there, trust me, but in the beginning, I was so ready for Miranda to punch him in the baby-maker. Luckily, our Logan begins to see Miranda, himself, his town in a new light. He turns into a man worthy of Miranda, and that was fantastic.

There seems to be a lot of potential for the Sweet Salvation Brewery series. With Miranda being one in a set of triplets, I'm hoping her sisters will get stories of their own. I'm especially hopeful for quiet, organized sister Natalie and gruff brewmaster Sean.

For all the reasons I gave at the beginning of my review, Enemies on Tap was a really fun read. I enjoyed the characters, Logan's character growth, the second chance at love, an inside look at running a brewery. This is the first book of Flynn's that I've read, but I definitely look forward to more.

Favorite Quote

His voice broke with emotion, and he let go of her wrist, letting it fall limp to her side as if her closeness burned him. "It's hell to be pushed into following a certain plan because of someone else's expectations of you, especially when the one person you want so badly that your whole body hurts is the person you can't ever have. I fucked up before. I wasn't man enough to stand up for you then. I am now, and I'm hoping like hell that you'll let me prove it."

About Avery Flynn

AFlynnShoesAvery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

  1. It's hard to resist a story like this...or a pun like that! I haven't had the best of luck with this Entangled line -- they've been a little light. And not in the good way. Like they're missing something. That connection. But this one sounds different!

  2. I haven't heard of this one but fun reads are my favorite kinds. I like how the main characters changed through the book and it's always interesting to see that change. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one. Great review, Andrea :)

  4. "I was so ready for Miranda to punch him in the baby-maker."
    HAHA! Love this quote!
I feel like that very often with some of the guys in contemporary novels. It's hard to resist books where the guy goes from a jerk into a gentleman. I love the sound of Logan's growth in the book.
And the main character is part of triplets? Well that must be entertaining!
Lovely review, Andrea. I'm glad you had fun with this book. I must add it to my TBR!

  12. Now that I'm flucking OLD-er, I do prefer second chance at love tropes than first love thingies. I had one too many first loves, I want the last love now :P #singlegirlproblems
