Wait for YouSome things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

Wait For You is a sweet story of a love that can overcome pain from the past.

I read a lot of New Adult. A LOT. I feel like I need to throw that out there, because I've started to feel like a lot of the stories I've read lately are pretty similar in their basic premise. I'm not saying anything bad about any of the stories, most have their own unique details. And while I feel Wait For You does does have fall in that general area, there's no denying that J. Lynn can write a heck of a story, and her specialty is writing great characters.

I adored Avery and Cameron. They were both sweet, both had vulnerabilities, and I found them endearing. Avery has had a terrible time the past five years. A trauma, horrible parents, and cruel classmates pushed her to the edge. In an attempt to get away from her past, she's starting over halfway across the country. Sometimes authors write characters like Avery with whom I never connect. Don't get me wrong, I always sympathize with them, but when they are so withdrawn and brittle that I never truly know them, then I lack connection. J. Lynn did a great job of conveying Avery's emotions and fears, and her willingness to move forward. I admired her. I wanted her to move ahead. With Cam.

Now, we all know that J. Lynn can write really, really hot book guys. Chad Gamble, anyone? My particular weakness is hot guys who are NICE. Cam was that guy. Yes, he could be cocky, but it was all in good fun, and boy did he make it gooooood. And apparently, Cam is hot. Shocking, right? He was the best. Understanding, caring, attentive, charming, sweet....Are you catching my drift? I could go on and on with this boy. Simply wonderful.

The relationship between the two was sweet. But I will say that the time period between meeting, getting to know one another, becoming friends, then more did drag for me. I understand that Avery needed time, and that's not what I'm talking about. I just felt that the first half of the story could have been condensed some. But wow, when things finally got rolling, it was HOT. Damn.

I also want to point out the setting: Shepherdstown, West Virginia. This is an area my husband spends time in for work, and it is gorgoues. With it's beauty and rich history, J. Lynn used the location to her advantage.

Wait For You is a really sweet story of two people who find hope and love in one another. It was a powerful story of strength and the power of letting go.

"I'd still be nice to you if you were ugly."
  "Okay."
A wicked grin slipped over his full lips. He bent his head down and whispered, "I just wouldn't offer you any cookies."
I folded my arms and tried to ignore the close proximity of our faces. "I'm beginning to think cookies is a code word for something else."
"Maybe it is." He tugged on my bag again as he took a confident step back, forcing me down another step. "And just think about it. If cookie was a code word, whatever it symbolizes, it's been in your mouth, sweetheart."  ~eARC, 9%

"F*ck, Avery. You think I don't want you?" His voice came out low, almost a growl. "There's not a single part of you that I don't want, you understand? I want to be on you and inside you. I want you against the wall, on the couch, in your bed, in my bed, and every fucking place I can possibly think of, and trust me, I have a vast imagination when it comes to these kinds of things. Don't ever doubt that I want you. That is not what this is about."  ~eARC, 68%

  1. I read Wait for You and love love loved Cam. I want a Cam when I go to college. I totally agree with you on the whole getting to the actual relationship took awhile. I also was a bit sad to see so many spelling and grammar errors. I think they should have waited a bit longer to edit more and then released it. Other than that I really loved this story! (:

I definitely will read it! I've real lots of Jennifer Armentrout's books and I think her characters are real and likable, her romance hot but emotional and her plot is always exciting and original:)

    Thank you:)

  3. For me this book was meh. I'm not sure if it's because I've been reading some really AWESOME NA lately, and just felt like this didn't live up to my excitement. I felt like it could of been a lot better. Cam annoyed me at times with calling her sweetheart right from the start, and all the time :/ Like Kylee, said(above) I think the editing/spelling error's were just too much for me, especially knowing JLA can write, great books. I think she shouldn't have so many projects on her plate and slow down, just a tad.

  4. Great review love. I just read Lisa's comment and LOL'd. The sweetheart irritated me too. Cam made the book for me for sure.

  5. I'm definitely going to read this book because HELLO It's written by JLA but at this moment I'm a little fed up with NA so I'm going to wait...

    Great review though :)

  6. Hahaha Cam and his cookies. Love him. Pretty sure he is my new favorite JLA guy. I really loved this one even though it had the typical NA elements, mostly because like you said it was easy to connect with the characters. Great review!

  8. Wow this sounds really good. I agree that a lot of NA seems to follow the same pattern so it's nice to see that this one stands out to you so much. I had given up on JLA's Lux series because I was so sick of Katy and Daemon's constant back an forth but I think I would really like this because the characters actually get together instead of just questioning their feelings for eachother for book after book. Fabulous review!

  9. I will absolutely read it - I bought it the other night, so I'm ready to go!

  10. Awesome review babe!! It is hard with NA when they all seem to have a similar theme, so the characters have to really stand out. JLA does an awesome job with that. That is why I love her writing so much. I liked how Cam and Avery's relationship progressed. It was sweet and believable. I'm glad you enjoyed this one!!

  14. I agree with you Andrea about the similarities in NA books. But I still can't wait to read this one! ;) Lovely review...and those quotes!?! OMG! You showed Cam is funny and very intense! Thanks!! ;)

  15. Despite mixed reviews I really want to me Cam, this is in my tbr pile and I hope to get to it before summer!

  16. OMG, these were my thoughts EXACTLY! If I hadn’t read so many NA books, this book would have for sure been a definite 5 star for me. But I feel like THAT storyline has been done so many times that it annoyed me a little. Cam was the reason I kept reading. I tend to think the nice guys are mostly boring but Cam was NOT boring! He was the best part of this book. I did like this book though. And I agree with the first comment, I was surprised at how many spelling and grammar errors there were and that kind of stuff usually doesn’t bother me. I totally felt like watching the ninja turtles after reading this :)

  17. I can't really concentrate on your thoughts, because this one is high on my tbr pile, but I love that you loved it. If you say it stands out with the characters, then I believe you. I've heard so many great things about it and I'm looking forward to reading it. I know what you mean by a lot of the same stuff out there - I'm on a NA roll right now, but I think I have to read some YA fantasy soon, because the more I read NA, the more it gets the same and I don't want to burn out by it. I'm over the moon that you liked it so much:) YAY!!

  18. I'm actually currently reading this one right now. :) I really, really love Cam ;)

  19. Well, we all know that JLA can write steamy scenes, so the NA genre seems like a natural fit for her. Great review!

  20. Everyone is saying this is a great read. I think I might love setting as well. But the fact that the guy is a nice guy is what I really like. I'll have to read this one when I get a chance!

  23. I love the Gamble brothers! HOT! Wait for You was a great NA book and I really loved Cam and the story in general. Like you, I've been reading a lot of NA lately and they do tend to follow the same outline, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. A lot of books in a particular genre do that, and that's fine, as long as they do it well, which is what JLA did. Great review!

  29. Sigh I really love the New Adult trend but I just feel like all of the books being published in this category are the same thing over and over. I do want to read this one but if it doesn't really stand out from all the other New Adult plots then what is the point in this genre!

    Thanks for the great review!

  34. I am currently reading Wait For You and am absolutely in love with it, New Adult might just be on my top fav genre. I love this book cause it's so..real. I normally am into paranormal romance because of all the things that don't exist in this word such as the vampyres, the werewolves, and etc, but with Wait For You, it's so relatable to me and everyone else in one way or another, I'm currently in college right now and I can relate to the environment and just the problems the characters come across. The realness of it all is what makes this book even more amazing. And it was nice to come across books like these, no vampyres invading the town. Just regular normal people.
