Sugar and spice and everything…naughty?

Pastry-chef-to-the-stars Daniela Rossi wants one thing: the abandoned building South of Market. Turning it into a soup kitchen for the homeless is the only thing that's excited her in months. And Daniella needs to feel again. Until she finds herself feeling too much - for the man who's competition for the property.

Ruthless entrepreneur Nico Cruz wants one thing: the abandoned SOMA building he grew up in, where his brother was killed. Destroying it is the only thing that will set his brother's soul at peace. And Nico always gets what he wants. But Daniela's sweet temptation makes him question what it will take to soothe his own soul.

Fortunately, in this bidding war, all's fair...

The rest of Kate Perry's fun, sexy Laurel Heights series is available now:

I've been seeing the Laurel Heights Series around for a while now, thought they looked good, and even have book three. So I was really excited to be able to join the blog tour. It's great that each book is a companion, and do not need to be read in order. Those types of series are a favorite of mine.

Sweet on You was, to be terribly cliche', sweet. I really like stories in which the leading characters are business rivals in some manner, and end up falling in love. I'm a firm believer that anger and passion are linked, and I love to watch characters walk that fine line.

While I had a fun time reading Sweet on You, I will say that a couple of things surprised me. One, how quickly Nico and Dani got involved. They were practically all over each other from the moment they met. That's completely understandable if the characters are drunk or irresponsible, but Dani and Nico are both practical adults in an awkward situation. This was a bit fast for me, but I'll chalk it up to great chemistry.

Another aspect that surprised me was the secondary storyline of Dani's assistant, Marley. Marley thinks she is in love with Dani's brother Tony, but unwittingly begins the sweetest relationship with Brian. I loved these two! Actually, their relationship made up nearly half the book, which was surprising since there's no mention of them in the synopsis. I honestly wish they'd had their own book, since I found them to be the more relatable, endearing couple.

Sweet on You was a light, fast, romantic story that I enjoyed. I'll definitely be picking up more of the Laurel Heights books in the future.

Favorite Quote:

Seeing a bowl of melted chocolate in front of them, he dragged his finger in the chocolate and smeared a bit on her exposed neck, licking it clean. "Delicious," he murmured, doing it again.
She arched int him, gasping. "Nico."
"Do you want me to stop?"
  "Are you crazy?"   ~37%

About the author:
Kate has tangoed at midnight with a man in blue furry chaps, dueled with flaming swords in the desert, and strutted on bar tops across the world and back. She’s been kissed under the Eiffel Tower, had her butt pinched in Florence, and been serenaded in New Orleans. But she found Happy Ever After in San Francisco with her Magic Man.
Kate's the bestselling author of the Laurel Heights Novels, as well as the Family and Love and Guardians of Destiny series. She's been translated into several languages and is quite proud to say she's big in Slovenia. All her books are about strong, independent women who just want love.
Most days, you can find Kate in her favorite café, working on her latest novel. Sometimes she's wearing a tutu. She may or may not have a jeweled dagger strapped to her thigh...

  1. Aw, I love the cover of this, it's cute! And I guess insta-love is an issue in adult fic as much as it is in YA!

  2. This sounds like a cute and good book even with the insta-love and the other relationship taking over a lot of the book. I had actually never heard of this series until I started seeing this book around. I might have to check it out.
