In an unforgiving future, two warring factions - the MILLENIALS and the GUARDIANS - are locked in a brutal battle over control of an online virtual world called the Metasphere. Jonah Delacroix has always known which side he's on - the same side as his dead father. But when he assumed his father's avatar, he learns that things aren't as black and white as he once believed. He's catapulted into a full-throttle race through both worlds - but can he find the truth?MetaWars : Fight for the Future is the first instalment in a fantastic futuristic adventure series with dast-oaced, cinematic narrative. Set in the near future MetaWars suggest a fascinating - but also scary - predicition of what might be to come, covering already topical issues such as fuel shortage, climate change and economic meltdown.

What an adventure! I wasn't sure what to expect from MetaWars, but what I got was a fantastic, imaginative journey. And I'll be the first to say, I'm not always the most enthusiastic fan of young adult science fiction, but I found MetaWars to be creative and so much fun.

So MetaWars takes place in the near(ish) future and the world is so bleak that most spend their time in the MetaSphere. The MetaSphere is a space that functions much like reality, people have jobs, they interact with one another. But, and this is cool, they have avatars, really cool ones like dragons and unicorns. The best way to descibe it is that being in the MetaSphere is like being inside a game. So maybe like Tron? Jonah, whose father died in service of protecting the MetaSphere is placed in the middle of the battle for control. He knows his father served for the noble side in the war. But did he? And whose side was his father really on? Jonah quickly learns no one has a pure motive and the only one he can trust is himself.

I feel that MetaWars would be a fantastic choice for tweens and young teens, reluctant readers, particularly boys. This series could be as big of a hit as books like Percy Jackson. After reading it, I desperately want to get a true young reader's take on the book, so I'm passing this along in a giveaway. I hope MetaWars lands in the hands of someone who will enjoy it as much as I did.

If you are a fan of young adult, adventure-filled fantasy with a Matrix vibe, MetaWars might be the book for you.

  1. This book sounds really interesting. I think that if there were more books like this that young boys would be more likely to read more. Great review!!
