Fang Me is the third installment in Parker Blue’s Demon Underground series.  We once again have Val Shapiro fighting for the better good, and learning to co-exist with her succubus, Lola. As always, Val is having a hard time finding a balance with “feeding” Lola and maintaining control over her, and dealing with the guilt she feels when Lola gets out of hand.  Val and Shade are becoming closer. And they are trying to walk a fine line with their healings and relationship because Val has learned that if she does “do the deed” with Shade, she will lose many of the powers that make her “The Slayer”.  Even though Val has always wanted to be normal, she’s not sure she will ever be ready to give up those powers.  Meanwhile, the Demon Underground is scrambling to find the Encyclopedia Magika before it falls into the wrong hands. And there is a new demon in town to help search for the books, Trevor.  Val gets some serious bad vibes from Trevor, but everyone else loves him. Is Val just jealous? Or is she right about him?
Fang Me is a really short book. But it is packed with tons of action and fun. Val and Fang are their usual snarky selves, for which I am always grateful. Towards the end of the book, I was a little surprised by one of the big decisions Val makes.  I really didn’t see that coming in this book. But Parker Blue managed to throw another situation in Val’s direction that helps her maintain her “Slayer-ish-ness”.  I love that even when the book is action and tension-filled, it still maintains it’s light, funny tone. I thought Fang Me was a fun, entertaining read and I am looking very forward to reading Make Me when it comes out.
