But I do actually understand why D/s romance authors get the question "how do you know", because you have to "get" the psychology to write it well, even if you aren't actually a practitioner. But it's actually way easier to do that now because there are so many more resources available for BDSM research.

But that's a side issue - I mainly wanted to address that third sentence. I've had debates with authors about how much realism and how much fantasy to put into BDSM romance, and my thought on this is like what I put above to Braine's great comment - readers want to enjoy the fantasy, and all the minutiae involved in a real life BDSM relationship would be as exciting as documenting every argument and day-to-day interaction between a vanilla couple (grin). Thank goodness for romance!Joey W. Your writing is fantasy to enjoy, bottom line enjoyment. I feel that sometime people just don't think, the brain to mouth filter is broken (which we are all guilt of doing from time to time). I have seen your earlier posts like this one. If all writers did what they wrote (scary) how about the murder books. Oh no, now I have myself think (joking). There's no excuse for sloppy writing in erotic romance any more than in any other genre of romance (wink). And we women need our emotional connection, especially when it comes to eroticism. For instance, my mechanics and psychology of D/s is based in reality, but the intuitiveness of my Dom heroes, sometimes not so much. Of course, having a reader wade through 20 pages of negotiating limits would be a buzz kill (though it's an important necessity in real D/s play). Of course, I've seen people flayed flucked and and chained in public play scenes (lol), but always within the stringent structure of a BDSM scene. Loved the flucked btw. :> Thank you for your great comments!Joey W. I'm sometimes surprised when I come across readers who are hardcore fangirls thinking that some of the stuff they read are devoid of fiction. Like really?!
