The Weekly Rewind, #113: Book Haul and Giveaway

THE WEEKLY REWIND is a weekly post in which I recap books received in the past week, what I'm looking forward to, and giveaways.

For Review
See this? It's an empty space because I didn't get any review books this week. Z-E-R-O. Yippy skippy!  I'm making huge progress in knocking out my review pile. I have almost all my September books read, and am on track to be on my new schedule, with only three reviews per week by the end of September.

For Review Consideration

And again... none! I'm going to start weeding through all the unsolicited books I've received and see what gems I can find, beginning in October.
Purchases
Holy crap what is this insanity? I just realized I didn't buy a single book for myself, though my son is tearing through the Fudge Series by Judy Blume (winning!). He loved Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great. I bought him Superfudge, Fudge-a-Mania and Freckle Juice. A reader raising a reader is a beautiful thing, guys. He also read the entire Harry Potter series this summer! He's eight. His teachers and the librarians in town are all super impressed. I've even been making him Butterbeer, which he loves. Just wait until the kids find out their Christmas gift this year is a trip to Orlando, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
I'm trying to get my six-year-old hooked on the Ramona Quimby series by Beverly Cleary, which my son also liked. So far, she's not super impressed, but I'm not giving up!

Freebies - what I lacked in other areas, I made up for in freebies!
Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1)  Secrets on the Sand (The Billionaires of Barefoot Bay, #1)  Deeper  Captivating Bridge (Tempest, #3; Black Cat Records, #6)
Almost Matched (Almost Bad Boys, #1)  Heat of the Moment (Out of Uniform, #1)  My Fate for Yours (My Heart for Yours, #0.5)  Crave (Fire and Ice, #1) The MacKinnon's Bride (The Highland Brides, # 1)  Final Hours (Love in Time, #1)

Wings of Arian by Devri Walls is currently Free! This is an imaginative fantasy with an awesome dragon and a seriously gorgeous cover!

Wings of Arian (Solus, #1)
GoodReads  |  Amazon

Lots of good-looking freebies this week! I was pretty shocked when I saw Dead Witch Walking was free. I got it even though I have it in print and audio and have read/listened to it twice. Fun story. I'm glad I got Captivating Bridge; I remember liking the Tempest band in the Love Revolution. I haven't read any Steph Campbell books yet, but was happy to pick up My Fate for Yours. Crave is a sports romance, which I typically enjoy. And Final Hours is a time travel romance; been a while since I've read one of those!

Must be 13+ years of age; open to US only.
The Last Princess (Last Princess, #1)  Ember (Ember, #1)  Savor (Warm Delicacy, #1)

  7. I also grabbed Dead Witch Walking while it's free! I seriously need to clear my shelves also. I gave a bunch of my MG books away yesterday to my cousin. I just have to sort everything out.

  9. Good for you, Andrea!! I'm proud you're sticking to your guns. And it is sooo awesome you're raising at least one reader. ;) Your daughter will get there too. My youngest daughter (middle child) took my longer to get to the place she enjoyed reading. It took a lot of Baby Mouse and Geronimo Stilton. ;) But she's a reader now! I hope you have a great week!
