SEVEN REASONS TO SPOIL YOURSELF WITH THE SULLIVANS!

Did you get a new eReader for Christmas, and are now looking for something awesome to read? Or, maybe you didn’t get anything good and want to spoil yourself a little with the chance to win that coveted eReader, some major gift cards, or other awesome prizes. Maybe you just need to relax after hurry-scurrying around all season. Well…
Wouldn’t it be nice to take a long hot bath or snuggle under your favorite blanket with a great read? Sounds like the perfect day, right? Hey, we can offer you something even better than that.
In fact, we can offer you something seven times better!
For starters, we can offer you up to seven review copies of Bella Andre’s New York Times and USA Today best-selling contemporary romance series The Sullivans.
We’ll introduce you to—not just one, but—each and every member of the Sullivan family on their quests to find happiness. Even though most of them aren’t even really looking for love, it has a way of finding them anyway. These sexy, emotional and funny novels will nurse all your literary and metaphorical desires. You’ll laugh and cry right along with the characters, and get hooked into these great stories right from the very first page. They even take place in lovely California, giving you the opportunity to travel by proxy and escape the windy winter doldrums.
What’s that you say? The books sound awesome, but you’re not sure why you have to join the tour to enjoy their awesomeness? There are so many reasons to sign-up. Since there are seven books (so far) in The Sullivans series and seven that will be taking part in this extraordinarily large tour, let’s stay right on theme and discuss seven reasons why you need to join the fun, pronto.

The perks

Not only will you get to read a great novel—or two, or three, or seven—but you’ll also get…
1. The opportunity to network with other bloggers and avid readers.
2. The option to host a guest post, excerpt or interview with best-selling author Bella Andre. This will bring new readers to your blog AND give you content for your blog—what’s better, a post you didn’t even have to write yourself. If your New Year looks as hectic as mine, having a guest post is almost as good as reading an awesome book… because it means I’ll have TIME to READ that great book.
3. The chance to interact directly with the author through a number of social media activities, discussions, and awesome giveaways .

But wait, there’s more!

4. Literally, there are more books. If you love The Sullivans, you can find half a dozen more books just waiting for your eager hands and mind. AND REVIEW COPIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL SEVEN! WOWZA!
5. Kick start your New Year’s resolution to read more! Plus you get hours of entertainment absolutely free—you may even win something (which makes the deal even sweeter).
6. The Sullivans will make you fall in love. You’ll love the writing, the humor, the characters, and the stories. You might even find hope for true love within these pages.
7. If you’ve ever wished for your own happy ending—heck, even if you’ve already found it—there’s something in each of these novels you’ll be able to identify with. We all know life isn’t perfect, and the Sullivans know that too. They’re so real, reading the book is almost like watching a movie or watching somebody’s real life unfold right in front of your eyes.

Did I forget to mention the prizes?

The prizes are ridonkulous. We’ve got romantic swag baskets, hundreds of dollars gift cards, an iPad Mini, Kindle Fire, Nook Color, AND a Sony eReader to name a few.
Well I guess there’s just one more reason to join us on the biggest tour Novel Publicity has ever put together. More books, more bloggers, more buzz and, of course, more prizes!

Oh, did you want specific details?

Leave Me Breathless (Ross Siblings, #3)Series: Ross Siblings #3
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Publication Date: 11/6/12

Leather and lace don't strike sparks. Or do they?

It's Valentine's Day, but Macy Rodgers isn't feeling the love. Aside from a torrid, one-night fling in a backseat a few months back, her love life has been sorely lacking, but fortunately she has devious friends who feel like playing Cupid. Wouldn't they be shocked to learn that the match they've made for her is the same one that steamed up the back of that '69 GTO...

Seth "Ghost" Warren has just returned to town after an extended absence. Between his grandmother's failing health, his job as a tattoo artist, his band's gigs, and a crazy ex that won't leave him alone, he's stretched thin. Cautious cowgirl Macy is the last thing he needs thrown into the mix.

She's all country, he's all heavy metal—and Macy knows that if anyone can propel her out of her rut, it's Seth. But when their worlds collide, it's anyone guess if they'll survive with their hearts intact.

Warning: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, road trips, troublemaking exes, emotional baggage, and an unconventional but exceptionally hot hero tatted and pierced for your pleasure...

**Full Disclosure: This isn't so much of a review as it is me losing my sh*t over Leave Me Breathless. You've been warned.**

Look. You all know how much I love my steamy reads, yes? Every week I get especially giddy when I know it's time to pick out my next Sexy Saturday book. So when I finally decided that Leave Me Breathless could wait no longer, I just knew that I was in for a particularly steamy treat.

*deep breath* THIS EFFING BOOK!  Y'all I love Leave Me Breathless so freaking much that I kind of want to punch something. I want to take this book, put it in my pocket and carry it around with me for-e-ver. (preferably with a vibrating option, lol. Just kidding!)  But seriously, I had ridiculously high expectations. Rock Me, book two in the Ross Siblings series is one of my very favorite books. And I honestly did not think Leave Me Breathless could come even close to competing with Brian Ross, tattoo artist extraordinaire, in all his apa glory. (Seriously, people, google that.) But it did. It really, really did.

We meet Seth "Ghost" Warren and Macy Rodgers in Rock Me. Ghost is Brian's best friend and best employee, and Macy is Candace's best friend. They are an unlikely pair, to say the least. But unlikely pairs are always the most fun to see come together. To see to people fall for one another, despite their best efforts. To see each realize that their preconceived notions may be wrong. To see them fight to be together, despite the odds. Seth and Macy may seem all wrong for each other. Macy wants the American Dream: marriage with a clean-cut guy, kids, the white picket fence. Seth offers her him in all his non-conformist ways, but he also offers her full acceptance, and the courage to be free. Seth, with his painful past and painful love life, doesn't see himself ever settling down, ever being what Macy could want and accept. Macy offers him security, a safe place to land. Her full heart.

Leave Me Breathless is hot hot hot. True to form with the men in this series, Ghost has skills. Tattoos. And a piercing. Multiple piercings. I just...I just can't even explain what this does to me. Are you guys picking up what I'm putting down? Ghost is One Hot Mother F'er. I need more ice, y'all.

Leave Me Breathless, this entire series, is at the top of my favorites list. I don't say that lightly. If they get any better, any hotter... Cherrie Lynn just may kill me.

Favorite Quotes:

Tattooed. Pierced. Shaved head, though right now he wore a black baseball cap pulled low over his eyes with the hood of his black sweatshirt over it.
The very antithesis to everything she wanted, or thought she wanted.
He was looking right at her, shit-eating grin in place, one dark eyebrow arched. That stare was like a vacuum. Or a black hole. Nothing could escape it.

"Are you all right, Macy? You look a little flushed."
Just as Macy began to nod quickly, Ghost swigged his beer and jerked his head in her direction. "She looks that way because I have my hand up her skirt."
He did not just say that. She went ramrod straight and snapped her legs closed as everyone at the table laughed. Candace said, "Oh, you wish."
All Macy had succeeded in doing was trapping his hand between her thighs.

"Why, Macy. A nice young lady like yourself, asking such a thing. I'm appalled."
"Oh, come on. Guys always know how big they are."
"Big enough that I should tie a bow around it and attach a little card that says 'To: Macy. You're welcome. Love, Seth.' "

"Do I freak you out a little?"
She looked him in the eye. "Yes."
  "Do I still?"
  "Yes."
"Good. Let me know if I ever stop. I'll have to think up something new."

"I wish I could even describe to you how I felt that first night we were together. I can't, though, because the only words going through my mind were holy f*cking shit. That's it. Over and over. That you had even looked my way once, that you agreed to meet up, that you actually pulled the first move and didn't tease or stop me--my life could've ended that night, Macy, and I'd have considered it complete. You are the best I've ever had. If all we do from now on is straight missionary sex at eight p.m. on Tuesday nights of months that start with J, you'll still be the best I ever had."

But whatever else happened, those little words would keep him going forever. Whatever else happened, for at least one moment in his life, Macy had loved him. But he would do his damnedest to turn the moment into a lifetime.

GILDED WINGS BLOG TOUR ~ EXCERPT, GUEST POST AND GIVEAWAY

Welcome to The Bookish Babe's stop on the Gilded Wings Blog Tour. Gilded Wings in book two in The Angel Chronicles. The tour is being hosted by Tribute Books, you can find the entire schedule here. My stop includes a guest post from author Amy Lignor, an excerpt and the tour wide giveaway.

But first, take a look at the series....

Until Next Time (The Angel Chronicles, #1)Series: The Angel Chronicles #1
Genre: Paranormal YA
Publisher: Tribute Books
Publication Date: 2/1/12

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.
Gilded WingsSeries: The Angel Chronicles #2
Genre: Paranormal YA
Publisher: Tribute Books
Publication Date: 11/1/12

The Beloved Angel-Warrior Team from Until Next Time Returns! When Matt and Emily are sent on their second mission they have no idea how truly dark human nature can become...

Emily never wanted to face humans again. With the heartache that went on down below, she’s still trying to figure out how to save souls that don’t deserve saving. The only one she wants to see again is Jason - the young man she fell in love with who became the soulmate she simply can’t forget...

Matt was trained to protect and defend the souls down below. Longing to feel the heartfelt emotions that come from being human, Matt wants nothing more than to have just one life - one chance - to live and love the girl of his dreams...

The powerful team find themselves in a brand new century, living in the Gilded Age of New York City. Emily takes over the body of Anya, a young Russian girl who arrives on Ellis Island after a hideous tragedy. There she meets up with a strangely familiar young man by the name of Drew Parrish, who helps Anya survive in an unknown world of luxury, snobbery and…obsession.

What Anya’s inner angel doesn’t know is that the soul she loves is also back. This time around Jason goes by the name of Max Carrow. Once a quiet and kind boy, he’s now part of the ‘Four Hundred Club,’ and wants nothing more than to be among the most admired as he climbs the shaky ladder of society’s elite.

As two worlds merge, Emily and Matt struggle under the weight of their “Gilded Wings.” Not only will they have to figure out who they should fight to save, but they must also face a romantic choice that could destroy them both.

Read-along Excerpt

Hope smiled and reached out to pat her hand. “No reason you would. I suppose I’ll just shorten this tale a bit. After the Civil War, the freeing of the slaves and President Lincoln’s death, the Yankees—which is simply another name for the Northerners who invaded the South—took over. They brought their money and built on our land, cut down our trees, opened lumber factories, and basically took away every ounce of our charm. Carpetbaggers are just thieves. They gave the colored men and women hope by offering them land but, if you ask me, all they really wanted to do was work them to death just like the Southern plantation owners had. They just did it in a quieter way, thinking that the people wouldn’t notice. Anyway, the whole thing’s hard to explain and happened over thirty years ago.” She smiled. “Just know that I am as much an outsider as you are, darlin’.”

Anya’s brain was racing to keep up. “But you traveled...to this city? Aren’t you now surrounded by these Yankee people?”

Hope laughed so hard she placed a hand on her stomach. “Honey, you catch on fast. I figured if you can’t beat em’—join em’. Anyway, there were only two places to go. Here, and our capital, Washington D.C. But,” she continued, shrugging her shoulders, “I can’t stand the constant chatter of politics. Very boring stuff. All the men who live there want to talk and, boy, do they think they’re smarter than everyone else. So it was New York for me.”

Anya felt a twinge inside her belly as if Hope should be involved in politics.

Inside the Writer’s Studio…with Emily!

One of my favorite shows on television is “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” This is a show presented to students of the Actor’s Studio Drama School at Pace University. I know there are a ton of interviews with celebrities, but the host, James Lipton, makes these people who everyone is so bedazzled by seem like the regular, normal humans they are. At the end of the show, Lipton asks his guest ten questions that they have to answer for the audience.

I wrote a blog about Matthew in this situation, but this time around it’s all about Emily - who’s more than a little uncomfortable when the spotlight is shone on her. But let’s see what our favorite angel has to say…

_____

Host: Emily, thank you for being here today.

E: (swallows hard as she looks around the room, trying to find the exits). You bet.

Host: We had your partner, Matthew, on the show. Charming guy.

E: (rolls her eyes) Yeah…that seems to be the consensus.

Host: He said that your job is harder.

E: (cracks a smile) Being an angel, or putting up with him?

Host: I think he meant the angelic work you do.

E: (sighs) Matthew is a great partner - he does a great deal of work and protects me all at the same time. So…even though there is a sarcastic remark begging to be let out of my mouth right now, let’s just say Matthew’s a cool guy.

Host: He told us that he cares very much for you.

E: Is this thing almost over? Matthew didn’t tell me this would be Sally Jesse Raphael. I can’t talk about that relationship stuff. Pick an easier topic, like death or something.

Host: (Looks into the suddenly black eyes and clears his throat) Not at all. That’s your business! Let’s just move on to the questions, shall we? (Without waiting for a response, he continues,) What is your favorite word?

E: Love

Host: But I thought you just said…?

E: It’s my favorite word - doesn’t mean I want you to go all Sigmund Freud on me about it. He already yaps at me enough when I’m up there. Next question!

Host: What is your least favorite word?

E: Hate. I don’t think anyone should.

Host: What turns you on? (clears his throat) When Matthew was here he said, you.

E: Yeah, I know. And if you recall, I slapped him in the back of the head for that one.

Host: Oh, that’s right. He changed his answer to Dutch Apple Pie. I was unaware that angels could lie.

E: He didn’t lie - he eats that stuff constantly!

Host:  So…what about you? What turns you on?

E: (the angel shrugs) Second chances, I suppose.

Host: What sound or noise do you love?

E: Laughing. It’s addictive.

Host: What sound or noise do you hate?

E: I just said I hate the word hate, so…I dislike the sound of war. Again, not necessary.

Host: What is your favorite curse word?

E: Are you serious? If I answer that I may be punished in a bad way, so let’s just skip that one.

Host: Okay, but do you have one?

E: (she smiles) I’ve got a great one going through my head right now!

Host: Other than yours, what profession would you like to do?

E: A vet. As you can probably tell I’m not good with people, but animals and I are great.

Host: Don’t you have to be good with people when it comes to your job?

E: Did you give Matty this much trouble?

Host: Okey-doke. What profession would you not like to do?

E: A doctor. Can’t stand the sight of blood.

Host: But don’t you…?

E: That’s why I can’t stand the sight of it.

Host: Gotcha. Last question…

E: Thank you, God!

Host: If heaven exists, what would you like God to say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

E: If? Seriously?

Host: Okay…Thank you for joining us today, Emily. It was really great to meet you.

(As the wings unfurl, the angel offers a wink and a smile.) E: I heard that Matthew wished you good luck with this interview. Just letting you know - you did a good job. If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m the ‘bad cop’ when it comes to our angel/warrior team. Bye!

Until Next Time, Everybody,

Amy

{BLOG TOUR} THE RISE OF RANSOM CITY - INTERVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Welcome to The Bookish Babe's stop on The Rise of Ransom City Blog Tour. Today's stop includes an interview with author Felix Gilman and a giveaway. I would like to the lovely folks at Tor Publishing for asking me to join the tour!

The Rise of Ransom CitySeries: Companion to The Half-Made World
Genre: Sci Fi/Fantasy
Publisher: Tor Publishing
Publication Date: 11/27/12

This is the story Harry Ransom. If you know his name it’s most likely as the inventor of the Ransom Process, a stroke of genius that changed the world.

Or you may have read about how he lost the battle of Jasper City, or won it, depending on where you stand in matters of politics.

Friends called him Hal or Harry, or by one of a half-dozen aliases, of which he had more than any honest man should. He often went by Professor Harry Ransom, and though he never had anything you might call a formal education, he definitely earned it.

If you’re reading this in the future, Ransom City must be a great and glittering metropolis by now, with a big bronze statue of Harry Ransom in a park somewhere. You might be standing on its sidewalk and not wonder in the least of how it grew to its current glory. Well, here is its story, full of adventure and intrigue. And it all starts with the day that old Harry Ransom crossed paths with Liv Alverhyusen and John Creedmoor, two fugitives running from the Line, amidst a war with no end.

INTERVIEW

Describe The Rise of Ransom City, Twitter-style.
Felix:  #steampunk #notreallysteampunkexactly #western #inventor #frontier #wolves #mammoth #memoir #tragicomic #theBomb RT if you like #justinbieber

What was your inspiration for the series?
Felix:  In terms of other books – which is the easiest way to answer this question - Westerns. Horatio Alger stories. Old-timey “Edisonades,” genius boy inventors, like Electric Bob. Against the Day and Seven Dreams. Otherwise, I don’t know, hard to say. It took a couple of years to write all told and no doubt a lot of stuff got poured into it. I’ve known some people who were a little like Harry.

Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
Felix:  Not really. Maybe I should. It usually takes me a good hour of time-wasting on the internet to actually get down to business. Making cup after cup of coffee. Pacing. It’s awful. I just have to wait for my guilt over not getting anything done slowly mounts to the point where it overwhelms my anxiety at looking at what I did yesterday. I find it helps if I leave a day’s writing with a scene nearly but not quite done, so that I have threads already largely planned that I can just pick up and work on the next day, before fully engaging my brain.

What do you like to do when you aren't writing?
Felix:  I have a 16 month old child and a day job, so once writing/parental duties/day job duties are done, what I mostly like is sleep.

What books have most influenced your life?
Felix:  My answer to this changes every time I think about it, so who knows. It has to be childhood books, if you’re talking about really deep-rooted influence. So let’s say: Ursula Le Guin’s Earthsea books; Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising books; those are books that I particularly remember loving as a child, and which had a very very strong influence on my tastes. Gormenghast, likewise, a bit older. I was thinking about The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists the other day, and wondering how much of my political views stem from reading it as a child (not views, that’s the wrong word; emotions, affinity)

Who would you consider your favorite author and why?
Felix:  Let’s say Mervyn Peake, author of the Gormenghast books. He was the best fantasist, the best inventor of imaginary worlds, with the most subtle control of mood and tone and irony and language and imagery.

**Special thanks to Felix Gilman for taking the time to answer my questions**

About the author:
FELIX GILMAN has been nominated for the John W. Campbell award and the Locus Award for best new writer. He is the author of the critically acclaimed Thunderer, Gears of the City, and The Half-Made World, which was listed by Amazon as one of the ten best SFF novels of 2010. He lives in New York City. Visit his Website at http://www.felixgilman.com/

Praise for The Rise of Ransom City:

“This sequel to The Half-Made World stands well alone; written like an old-fashioned memoir,
it seamlessly blends whimsy with deadly seriousness.”
Publishers Weekly on RISE OF RANSOM CITY

On my being handed the book now in your hands, I promised myself - tacitly, of course –
I'd only take a peek. But will you look at what's happened? Mr. Gilman's appeal promptly poured itself all over me, and I, by golly, in superb reciprocity, pored all over his
pages from first to last. Is this not the joy in reading, no less in being? - enforced attention, the delightsome entrapment, a thorough-going filling
and the rare repose of one's having been emptied -- utterly, gratefully - out?
—Gordon Lish on RISE OF RANSOM CITY

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Hi, y'all! Guess what? It's Christmas Eeeeeve and this makes my heart feel so so happy! I'm so excited to open gifts with my family, to see their happiness (I hope) when they see what I've chosen for each of them. And for the first time in, like, ever, I have no idea what my husband got me.

So anyway, last year I took a bloggy break between Christmas and New Year's, and this year, with the exception of a couple guest posts, I'm doing the same. I'm really excited about reading a bunch of "me" books I've been purchasing like mad. I'm also hoping I don't spend this year sick like last year. Ugh. That sucked.

Also like last year, I'm doing this Happy Holidays post, Love Actually-style. It's my favorite Christmas movie, and I can't resist sharing my love.

Sigh...To me, Andrew Lincoln is perfect. I much prefer him looking all clean, happy (albeit heartbroken), and not running from zombies. I like to pretend he's holding that sign for me, instead of the dummy, Juliet.

Billy. I love that old perv.

I loved these two. Striking up a friendship/romance while standing-in (naked) on a movie set? Priceless.
