Teaser Tuesday: Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along, just do as following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
  • Be careful not to include any spoilers so as not to ruin the book for others!
Make sure to share the title and the author so other TT participants can add the book to their TBR piles!

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)
How do you defy destiny?
Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it's getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she's haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they're destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.
As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart. (From GoodReads)
“In the morning when Helen woke up and looked at her feet, the cuts were gone. She almost believed that she had imagined them-until she saw that her sheets were dirty with dried, brown blood and grit.”

  5. Helen is beyond beautiful. And she is tall. She has always known there was something different about her. Instead of her differences being a good thing, they are a bad thing. Because they make her stand out entirely too much especially on her small island where she lives. Then she starts having nightmares of three screaming women who cry tears of blood, there called the furies. Also enter Lucas Delos and his family who are just as tall and beautiful and exotic as Helen is. Comes to find out, they are demi Gods and hanging around them, Helen finds out she is a demigod as well. And so the adventure begins. I really enjoyed this book, even though I don't know squat about greek mythology. I loved this book about love, tragedy, adventure, and so much more. I loved this book. It was good. I seriously can't wait till the sequel!
